Out of the people on the "short list", Gowdy would probably be best. Scott's not bad either.

Politico are running a three page story full of Democrats praising Lindsey Graham and warning challengers that he will be too difficult to beat.

Must be getting worried.

Senate Dems praising Graham isn't really going to help him in 2014.

We can now focus on getting rid of Graham, please run Tom Davis..

I hope Davis will run, but ultimately it is his decision. Mulvaney does seem interested as well, so either way we could have a good guy challenging Graham. The good thing about the Scott pick is that we won't have to worry about being focused on two SC Senate elections in 2014. No one will challenge Scott, and he should have no trouble in the general.

Having Scott on the ballot in 2014 will unite all the conservatives to work on unseating Lindsey.

None of the sitting congressman will challenge Graham, it almost never happens. Mulvaney has said as much in the politico article. It is either Davis or Graham will sail to re-election-

Scott has actually grown on me recently, his FreedomWorks scorecard has him at 88%. I had been a little bit suspicious that he was getting a free pass, like Allen West and Marco Rubio, because of his race, but that's actually not true. He is a good fiscal conservative.

I'm happy Haley chose a conservative, Scott isn't a liberty candidate, but hopefully Rand (now the Senate Tea Party Caucus leader, with DeMint gone) can influence him on issues like civil liberties. Additionally, Rand could receive his endorsement in 2016 if they have a good relationship in the Senate.

Massie and Davis both know Scott well and have praised his fiscal responsibility, so I'll take their word for it.

Scott is definitely genuine, he's no Rubio or Ryan. He voted against raising the debt ceiling. He's coming over on foreign policy too, he voted for the Kucinich Libya resolution and wants to cut foreign aid.

Rand has the potential to guide a few newcomers, Flake (already good), Scott, etc. He's starting to build a nice coalition of allies, and has the potential to do even more.
