Bioshock Infinite pissing off both Unions and the Tea Party.

Which means it must have a good message.

Correction: "... relatives of mine were very offended, because they thought it was an attack on the Tea Party."

The Tea Party has not released any statements.

In BioShock Infinite a fight has erupted between two factions: the Founders and the group Vox Populi. Levine claims that the Vox Populi is based loosely on the Baader-Meinhof Group, a left-leaning German student movement that devolved into extremism in the mid-1970s to become the RAF (Red Army Faction).

===

Wikipedia: Red Army Faction (Baader-Meinhof) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Army_Faction)

The Red Army Faction or Red Army Fraction in its early stages commonly known as Baader-Meinhof Group (or Baader-Meinhof Gang), was post–World War II Germany's most prominent left-wing militant group. The RAF was founded in 1970 by Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Horst Mahler, and Ulrike Meinhof. The RAF described itself as a communist and anti-imperialist "urban guerrilla" group engaged in armed resistance against what they deemed to be a fascist state. As such, members of the RAF generally used the Marxist-Leninist term "Faction" when they wrote in English.

Sounds like the game may have a Pro-Communist message, which might be "good" in your opinion.

It doesn't depict the Vox Populi in a positive light though. Stop being dumb and not understanding stuff Frank Rep, you fuck up too many threads.

Yeah, if anyone thinks this franchise has ever put collectivism in a positive light they need to actually play the series.

Play System Shock 2 if you want a real FPS-RPG that's really frightening.

I own it but it made a bad first impression on me - high difficulty, corridors all look the same, respawning enemies, and I have no interest in learning to mix dozens of chemicals

Bioshock is a great series, but this particular version takes some unnecessary shots at the Founding Fathers. But it is just fiction, so you roll with it.

After looking at the Plot and background information about the game, I really don't see anything that would be considered a "good message." it's just a game based on fiction so I remain neutral on it.

Playing Bioshock 2 right now.

I just take the series as loosely challenging different ideologies. Or at least showing the dark side of them.

But I only take it as the backdrop of a sci-fi game. I don't take any of this game as a serious effort to analyze political philosophies. I'd almost equate it to the movie V for Vendetta which was a very watered down version of the Alan Moore book. In Rapture, I think the exploration of these kinds of politics is literally watered down. :p

otherwise, I have to say this game could be an interesting film and I wish James Cameron would look at it.

"He viewed African-Americans as a lesser race. He just thought they should be free. Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. George Washington owned slaves. People were men of their times, and this is a game that's set in a time where, if you don’t have those elements in the game, it's just dishonest, you know?"

Yeah. Free to be sent back to africa lol.

I'm just glad that there are games that are even discussing this kind of topic. Too many games are just aim/shoot or have some pointless story about saving your wife or something. The Bioshock series actually tries to go above the norm and do something special and I appreciate that, even if I don't necessarily agree with the way things are portrayed.

Haha true. The first Bioshock was kinda dumb though, in that it showed "total anarchy" as leading to totalitarianism, but actually it was sort of a de facto fascist setup to begin with.
