Up until recently, I had dismissed as ignorance or vindictiveness all of the post-mortems of the presidential election that lay the blame for Romney's loss on a majority of Americans supposedly rejecting the free market and being lured in by socialism. And then it ocurred to me: this is a deliberate ploy.

They are attempting to create a narrative that says the election was a referendum on the free market and that the Republican drubbing was a rejection of the free market. They are creating this narrative so they can use it as a basis to argue that Republican candidates in the future that are "too free-market" cannot be elected. It is a deliberate plan to continue to push the Republican party towards socialism.

Read the dedication on The Road to Serfdom. It applies just as much to the US today as it did to the UK then.

Exactly and the Republican establishment is in on it. Just in case it does not work and the Republicans actually win the Republican nominee is typically Socialist anyway so it is a win win. Although in the eyes of the public the game is to paint the Republican candidate as a free market Conservative.

I posted in forums in the 90s that Bush will win and destroy Conservatism in the eyes of the public so they can usher in more Socialism. In 2008 I posted here that Romney will be the 2012 nominee and he will lose. Romney was the perfect candidate for this since they knew with all the Tea Party outrage that there would not be enough Conservatives turning out for Romney thus ensuring an Obama win.

In 2016 it will be Jeb Bush. They will paint him as a free market Conservative savior which is utter nonsense. If Jeb wins, he will pass more far reaching Socialist legislation while the Conservative media will paint him as a hero and the Liberal media will paint him as an evil Conservative. If Jeb loses then they can continue to paint the Republican party too free market so they can continue down the path to Socialism.

The media and the one party system is selling one big lie to the American public and they are eating up.
