FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alas Poised to Harness Burgeoning Power of Latino Electorate in Los Angeles County say
Republicans
SAN MARINO - December 13, 2012 – Realtor and former international pro soccer player, Arturo Alas
III, is poised to win the nomination for chairman of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County at the
party’s biennial organizational elections this Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Mike Curb Free
Enterprise Center in Burbank, California.
Alas has received the endorsements of multiple GOP colleagues including John Dennis, chairman of the
California Republican Liberty Caucus and congressional contender of Nancy Pelosi; Allan Bartlett of
the Irvine City Finance Commission; former Sonoma County GOP Chairman, Matt Heath; and current
Clark County, NV GOP chairwoman, Cindy Lake.
“Put the ‘serve’ back in “conservative,” is Alas’ motto. “Republicans are dangerously close to
becoming third party status in California. If we fail to rebrand our party message and reach out to
Latino communities, we will become irrelevant,” he said.
Arturo Alas, 31, would be the first Latino GOP chairman in LA County in 25 years, since Bill Orozco
chaired the party at the end of the Reagan Administration.
Alas says the Latino community is largely a conservative culture, “My party has failed to effectively
brand its message to include us. Latinos are patriots at heart, and having the ability to speak to them in
the language used at home is vital to reaching these communities. I can do that.”
“Sponsoring neighborhood seed drives and urban farming festivals can be a way to show them that we
truly are here to help them combat the obstacles of government bureaucracy so they can be free to make
a living. We don’t have to depend on the government during difficult times,” said Alas.
Alas was first elected to his central committee seat in 2010 after members of TEAPAC, a Pasadenabased Tea Party group, encouraged him to run. He currently serves as the assistant treasurer on the
Board of the LA GOP.
The election will occur on Saturday 9am – 2pm at The Mike Curb Center for Free Enterprise at 6250
Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, 91521.

I'm not familiar with how things work in CA. Do you need registered republicans to show up to a mass meeting somewhere?

Hopefully there won't be a repeat of King County.

That isn't how it works here, its elected members voting. :)

I liked it but it is in Spanish. Is there anything in English to circulate to English speakers?

Are we just 'creating buzz' or should we be getting email addresses somewhere and sending this to delegates or something?

How does voting up a youtube video help anything?

Isn't there a fixed number of identifiable people who need to be individually persuaded or turned out?

Don't know how your local GOP looks like but ours has older people who are impressed with anything 'viral'.

I'm throwing this out there for people who want to help fellow RP'ers from a long distance.

Haven't heard of that guy, the only anti NDAA movement I know of is from RLC and the 10th Amendment center.

YAL is active in campus but outside? nah...

The real NDAA battle comes when we win :)
