In a survey released by analyst Steve Sternberg, Fox News has the oldest audience among fully distributed cable networks. The network's average viewer last season was 65 years old, according to Nielsen. Heck, it's viewers are even older than viewers of Hallmark Channel, Military Channel and Golf Channel.

Perhaps the reason viewers tend to leave Fox News on all day racking up hours of big Nielsen numbers is they can't actually change the channel?

(Ah, Fox News, you know we only kid you because you sort of set yourself up for it).

CNN wasn't far behind, though -- its average audience was 63. MSNBC was a perky 59. CNBC is the young turk at 52.

The youngest fully distributed cable channel? Oxygen. Followed by Bravo and, weirdly, VH1 Classic, then Travel and TLC -- all averaging about 42 years old.

also, FOX Propaganda has gotten so ridiculous on the subjects and lies, American serfs are starting to watch the Lefty propaganda more. It appears, Marxist lies are more believable than Nazi lies.

Try this brain filter... watch your local affiliate corporate news... see if it's all police/crime reporting stories. That's all it appears to be now... even the news alerts coming up @ (you name the top of the hour news).

Maybe because younger people are working, while retired folks just watch TV all day?

Maybe because younger people are working, while retired folks just watch TV all day?Visited a couple of retirement/assisted living/nursing homes during the holidays... It's so sad to see all the seniors glued to their TV News like zombies. Unless they have visitors, there's not much else for them to do. Corporate media with their high priced actors have them hypnotized.

I would have thought Nick, Cartoon Network or MTV would have the youngest audience.

I wish people would stop carelessly throwing around that term; it makes it lose all meaning. There are very few actual neocons. Just because some disagree with us on foreign policy DOES NOT make them neocons.

Neocon labeling is the height of intellectual laziness. It's the same nonsense used by Hot Air crazies who derisively label any type of RP supporter as Libertard. It's just easier that way.

We really need an independent media network with two primary outlets, WORT and KORT tagged "Original Right"

Kinda like "Radio Free America" reporters 'The original American right reports that violence has spiked in correlation with gun right restrictions emplaces in yadda yadda yadda lorem ipsum and all that jazz.'

Report straight news as straight news alone. Create a ridiculously over the top for journalism standard for the elimination of all bias, and run those two anchor shows as news casts. Create the only actual "Straight News" broadcast in the world and go head to head with the spinners.

or run the straight news a half hour ahead, to 'brief' people ahead of time on all the spin they are about to hear on the networks.

This is why I look forward to when all of these brainwashed morons who are spoon fed propaganda off the idiot box are six feet under. Let them and the world they are responsible for die an immediate death with all elderly liberty supporters being the exception, of course.

Now that would be a fairly selective plague, but death is a bit less creative than a pox. ;)

No reason for that. With the blatant voter fraud in the primaries which would have resulted in a Paul victory if done honestly, the massive Paul rallies, and marijuana legalization the change has already taken place.

Blatant voter fraud? Surely you don't mean the abject stupidity that we were inundated with throughout the "Vote Flipping" horsecrap, do you?

A poll by Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey showed that of all the news channels out there, Fox News viewers are the least informed.

People were asked questions about news habits and current events in a statewide poll of 600 New Jersey residents recently. Results showed that viewers of Sunday morning news shows were the most informed about current events, while Fox News viewers were the least informed. In fact, FDU poll results showed they were even less informed than those who say they don’t watch any news at all.

Readers of The New York Times, USA Today and listeners to National Public Radio were better informed about international events than other media outlets.

In one major example, New Jersey poll participants were questioned about the outcome of the so-called Arab Spring uprisings in North Africa earlier in the year. A total of 53% of respondents know that Egyptians were successful in overthrowing dictator Hosni Mubarak. Also, 48% know that the Syrian uprising has thus far been unsuccessful in ousting Assad. But on balance, Fox News viewers were 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government than those who were not TV news viewers. Fox News viewers were also 6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government than those who watch no news, suggesting a daily dose of sound bytes from CNN at the gym, and headlines from Google News were enough to surpass what average Fox viewers polled knew about current events.

Fox News is the leading cable news channel.

“Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News,” said Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson and an analyst for the PublicMind Poll. “Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all.”

The kicker is that MSNBC didn’t do all that much better. In one question, some 11% of MSNBC viewers actually believed that Occupy Wall Street protesters were Republicans compared to just 3% of Fox viewers.

“Ideological media does a very poor job overall,” Cassino told Forbes. “They don’t challenge people’s assumptions. In traditional news, you will find that more often than not, there actually is a correct answer and there is no gray area. People who tune into ideological media are motivated to hear their side of the debate and so you can have someone who watches MSNBC be so used to hearing about protests coming from the right that they automatically believe that Occupy is mostly a Republican protest.”

Occupy Wall Street leaders are not in support of any political party.

On international news, Fox viewers were by far the least likely to know that the Egyptian protests led to the resignation of Hosni Mubarek, followed by MSNBC in a distant second for least informed.

Just because some disagree with us on foreign policy DOES NOT make them neocons. actually ,neo-conservatives are the ones who brought the democrat platform of "nation building" and "pre-emptive strike/warfare" to the republican party , so yes it is a correct word to use.

I know a ton of people in their 20's that stream their content and don't even have cable. It's just too damn expensive.
