Yes, Star Wars with politics. Especially with the Clone Wars series that has been going on for the past few years, something I've been following since it started. Whats interesting to me is that is seems to convey the message of liberty and American foreign policy. A recent story arc that aired in October told of a group of freedom fighters on Onderon (the Mujahideen) fighting against the Separatists (the Soviets) who invaded the planet and the Republic (the US) who funded and trained the freedom fighters even if the Jedi Council (Congress) thought it would count as funding terrorism. However, in the end, the freedom fighters didn't turn on the Republic as the Mujahideen did with the U.S. The moral of "If you ignore the past, you jeopardize your future." points out the the fact that history should be studied so it is to not be repeated.

Senator Padmé Amidala seems to be a nod off to Ron Paul in terms of war. As she states for a bill that would grant more troops for the ongoing Clone War with nods to our own problem we face in the US: "The creation (deployment) of more warriors will not end this war (Afgan war). The financial cost alone will bankrupt and cripple the Republic (the US). By adding more clones (troops) to the conflict we are only escalating destruction, not winning the war. Which is why we must vote for this resolution. To promote more diplomacy, and bring an end to this killing and hatred.". In the episode that this quote is made, the bill was ultimately defeated. The following conversation seems to lighten more on the topic with nods to our own problems:

Amidala (Ron Paul): "Members of the Senate, do you hear yourselves? More money, more clones (troops), more war. Say nothing of fiscal responsibility, what about moral responsibility? Hasn't this war gone on long enough?"
Saam (Republicans): "Senator Amidala (Ron Paul), are you suggesting we surrender to the Separatists (terrorists)?"
Amidala (Ron Paul): "Of course not. But negotiation might be a better course of action."
Rab (Democrats): "You can't negotiate with those animals! Keep the war going! Vote now!"

Notice the parallels?

Neat. :) Star Wars always had some good anti-imperial/anti-state rhetoric in it.
