They should be looking up fascism too, since that's the system we're suffering under.

“The test of fascism is not one’s rage against the Italian and German war lords. The test is — how many of the essential principles of fascism do you accept and to what extent are you prepared to apply those fascist ideas to American social and economic life? When you can put your finger on the men or the groups that urge for America the debt-supported state, the autarkical corporative state, the state bent on the socialization of investment and the bureaucratic government of industry and society, the establishment of the institution of militarism as the great glamorous public-works project of the nation and the institution of imperialism under which it proposes to regulate and rule the world and, along with this, proposes to alter the forms of our government to approach as closely as possible the unrestrained, absolute government — then you will know you have located the authentic fascist.

“But let us not deceive ourselves into thinking that we are dealing by this means with the problem of fascism. Fascism will come at the hands of perfectly authentic Americans, as violently against Hitler and Mussolini as the next one, but who are convinced that the present economic system is washed up and that the present political system in America has outlived its usefulness and who wish to commit this country to the rule of the bureaucratic state; interfering in the affairs of the states and cities; taking part in the management of industry and finance and agriculture; assuming the role of great national banker and investor, borrowing millions every year and spending them on all sorts of projects through which such a government can paralyze opposition and command public support; marshaling great armies and navies at crushing costs to support the industry of war and preparation for war which will become our greatest industry; and adding to all this the most romantic adventures in global planning, regeneration, and domination all to be done under the authority of a powerfully centralized government in which the executive will hold in effect all the powers with Congress reduced to the role of a debating society. There is your fascist. And the sooner America realizes this dreadful fact the sooner it will arm itself to make an end of American fascism masquerading under the guise of the champion of democracy.”
– John T. Flynn, As We Go Marching, 1944

Neither of those keywords were in the top 100 search terms of 2012, in fact it looks like only one political search term made it, but the pirate bay made the list!

I was actually rather surprised. Social media was 7-8 time more searched for than porn, while porn uses the most bandwidth.

Yep. They won't look that up though. People have been trained to think as they are told by these elements often refered to as "sources". That reality has been reframed in their minds in the form of such spew as "crony capitalism". As such, by it's actual and more relevant name it will not be known. Or more importantly...discussed. Frank Luntz 101.

Same concept with "fiscal cliff". That's a real gem there.

A growing majority of the less informed tend to view government controlled markets as "The Free Market". These in this particular demograph are particularly dangerous to the concept left by our founding fathers and are a main contributor to the problem and are in dire need of re-education for the sake of the rest of us in my opinion.

I've often been in tune with the notion that they'll sell themselves the very rope in which they would hang themselves but the reality is that they are the demand that this brand of market requires to grow (not survive...grow...like the virus that it is) and subsequently and gladly supply to hang us all.

And what is equally as alarming is that the same demograph carries the same politically indoctrinated ( again, sourced...not learned in the traditional sense of the term) illusion of what socialism actually is in the same manner as they do with capitalism in it's truest form. That's another term that's thrown around that a majority have absolutely no idea what it is or how to recognize it. They just say it because they heard it. They'll spew it all day long just to seemingly justify the other concept of capitalism...which as mentioned above...they have no genuine clue of either. If they did then they would certainly recognize what it is that we actually have. And "crony capitalism" speak doesn't cut the mustard. Sorry. It doesn't.

Good point, Lucille. Wish I could give you a thousand +reps for that.

Baffles me to no end why we allowed this to happen. The "how" we allowed it is obvious. The why part is just...baffling.
