The post-election soul searching going on inside the Republican Party is taking place inside Fox News as well. Fox News chief Roger Ailes, a canny marketer and protector of his network’s brand, has been taking steps since November to reposition Fox in the post-election media environment, freshening story lines — and in some cases, changing the characters.

According to multiple Fox sources, Ailes has issued a new directive to his staff: He wants the faces associated with the election off the air — for now. For Karl Rove and Dick Morris — a pair of pundits perhaps most closely aligned with Fox’s anti-Obama campaign — Ailes’s orders mean new rules. Ailes’s deputy, Fox News programming chief Bill Shine, has sent out orders mandating that producers must get permission before booking Rove or Morris.

Karl Rove was right about Ohio though, that was a ludicrous call. How could they make it so early and when so few precincts and counties had reported? When they made the call it was a few thousand votes difference. It was a total sham and highly suspicious in my view.

As I recall, at the point in the evening when the projection was made, the majority of the votes left were from precincts that typically vote Democrat by huge margins.

yup, that was exactly the case. they even interviewed the guys who made the call on live tv and they explained that it was basically statistically impossible for Romney to win based on the districts that were out because they were so nearly 100% dem voting.

Fox News reduces Rove's role

NEW YORK, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Fox News chief Roger Ailes has directed the U.S. broadcasting outlet to limit Republican strategist Karl Rove's on-air appearances, New York magazine reported.

Citing multiple Fox sources, the magazine said Tuesday Ailes has been taking steps to reposition Fox News following President Barack Obama's re-election victory over Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

A representative for Fox News confirmed the cable channel is changing its customary booking practices, and the magazine said multiple sources confirmed Ailes has directed that faces associated with Fox's election coverage -- including Rove and pundit Dick Morris -- be given less air time.

Fox News Senior Vice President of Programming Bill Shine issued an order requiring producers and bookers not to book appearances by Rove or Morris with getting permission, the report said.
