It's not so much that this is deemed news, but rather the unsavory comments.
The comments are priceless. A glimpse into the regressive mind.

You know, the flag isn't just a symbol of racism. It's also a symbol of outright treason against the United States of America. It's interesting that isn't pointed out more often. There may honestly not be a more despicable symbol in the history of this country and if jackasses like Adkins insist on displaying them, then the response should be that he understands he'll never be featured prominently on national television again.

Gotta love libs getting their panties in a bunch over things like this.

The Confederate flag flies over slave fields for about four years.

Ole Glory flies over slave fields for nearly a century, including during the Civil War after the 'Great Liberator' had 'freed the slaves'. I guess he forgot to notify his own countrymen.

Stars and Bars = Racism
Stars and Stripes = Freedom

And you thought Republicans were stupid. Democrats have taken stupid to an art form.

Issue-oriented liberty-minded people are already on board but that's not enough in most cases. The people that vote on style points have to be addressed too. It's useful to keep tabs on current events and the opinions of the masses.

Of course it is and of course we should.

Nobody here as far as I know, is upset.

The Loyalists are spun up and out of control over it though.

By all means leave your politically correct nicely padded cell and come visit.

We call them 'Halfways" in the Carolinas. They retire from the cities in the north and retire to Fla. Then they don't like the humidity and head 'halfway' back north.

Some of the hate is truly shocking. It's funny that as much as despise the philosophy of progressives, I don't hate them as people. I can differentiate and understand why they act the way they do:

And, of course, the asshole's wearing fur as well. Fuck this hillbilly.

People in the South are proud of their ignorance, including racism (which is alive and doing very well across the South), homophobia, and anti-Semitism. I was raised there and nothing has changed. They do not and never will believe in science, are contemptuous toward education, learning, etc. They are professional victims who believe they will still win the Civil War, the South will "rise again," and all the usual racist cant. Their great intellectual pursuit is football, which they equate with Christ himself. What fools.

Let them secede , it's the only answer , it would be like giving the country a much needed enema . We could just flush the ignorant and stupid waste away , the country would feel much better .

I live in Vermont and see 6th generation Vermonters sporting the Stars-n-Bars, Vermonters whose own ancestors fought for the North in the War Of Southern Aggression! They are disrespecting their own family's sacrifices by being unpatriotic anti-Americans.

These secessionists are forthcoming about their outright treasonous wishes. Why not fulfill their dreams of being sent to FEMA camps for re-education?

What is it about treason and the deaths of a million American lives (.6
million of them combatants) that some of you evidenetly find hard to
understand? The Confederate Flag is a flag of treason, racism, slave-labor and betrayal ...
and a rallying-cry to the "lost cause" crackers and their neo-sedition
co-conspirators. If justice had been carried out, more traitors hung at
the end of the Civil War, and the Union Army left in the South long
enough to get the job done ... we wouldn't be seeing and hearing this
outrageous garbage today.

You just have to shake your head. And this is coming from a life long northerner who has the privilege of living with this enlightened bunch.

The Collins is right. The flag issue will never be sufficiently hashed out until we understand what the root cause of the problem is. Only then can we understand why states' rights has anything to do with the stupid flag. It's the issue of states' rights versus individual rights and federal powers that must be discussed.

That is something I have learned by interacting with liberals, gay "rights" activists and atheists.

You're shocked by their rhetoric? I'm not. Progressives are among the most bloodthirsty political groupings in human history. The party of unlimited abortions, infanticide, and re-education in the name of 'tolerance' has no trouble running every nuance of your life. These are the people we hated in high school and college: the busybodies who view it as their 'duty' to be involved in politics, to better the world with the barrel of a gun. They're the class president; the student council officer. And the worst part, they actually believe they are bettering mankind by forcing all others to confirm to their views. They have no interest in 'tolerance', only the elimination of all viewpoints they deem offensive.

And some people here think we would be more welcomed in the Democratic Party? Seriously?!

Sure, some Progs liked Ron for his anti-war rhetoric, but look at them now under Obama. Not a peep! They just hated George Bush and had the self-righteousness to act the part of peacekeeper when really they crave war, especially against the 'barbanic' Muslims and their treatment of women and gays. I can't tell you how many on the left I've heard come out and support the wars in the name of liberating oppressed demographics. Because that worked so well in Iraq and Afghanistan, right?

At least the Right we can agree with on some economic issues, and at least those on the Right are likeable as human beings. They may be wrong, but they're generally fine to be around so long as you avoid politics. Those on the Left, however, are just pompous assholes, unlikeable and possessing few redeeming qualities. They crave political discussion, not for the exchange of new ideas, but simply to feed their ego. It's just for the purpose of circlejerking and nothing else.

To quote Matt Stone (co-creator of South Park): We fucking hate conservatives, but we really fucking hate liberals.

+Rep. H.L. Mencken once said that "the urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it." And that pretty much sums up these people you so aptly described.

Many liberals are atheists. But the general point is that atheists, like intolerant tolerance-preachers, pretend to be logical and open-minded when they are neither. Also, Christians may appear to be intolerant to you, but that's only because you hold different moral standards. The real problem is when people don't even recognize the difference between their moral positions or use it to gain perspective on why they would disagree. Most people just take their own biases for granted.

Now, I'm not saying many Christians aren't intolerant. Christianity is a far less cohesive group than many will assume. I disagree with almost all Christians on at least some things. But atheists, in all their wisdom, will yell at Christians for being intolerant whilst not recognizing their own hypocrisy. This isn't a tolerance battle I'm trying to engage in. I don't claim to be "tolerant" myself on many levels, but who's to say tolerance is always the best policy? Sometimes intolerance is a good thing. It just depends on what we define as moral and immoral, and that's where the main disagreement lies between atheists and Christians, liberals and conservatives, etc.
