It's really sad he's the exception and not the rule.

This is a feel good story from the start. I hope the public absolutely floods this guy with praise. maybe LE will see how people react when treated properly. (hope springs eternal)

LOL that's what I was thinking. I was kinda hoping that the sheriff would arrest the airport's PR guy and start getting aggressive with him like they do with mundanes. Alas, though, sensational stuff like that usually only happens in the movie. Not that it would really be right for the officer to do that anyway because it would violate Mr. Myers' rights.

The interesting thing to me is, I really doubt this would have made mainstream news if he had been a run-of-the-mill power tripping cop and had failed to protect their constitutional rights. Also, I doubt the news would have publicized any criticism of the PR manager for trying to sic the cops on those kids if that had been the case.

Great guy, I hope he gets a lot of positive feedback for doing the right thing.

I hate to be the lone voice, but isn't an airport private property? Don't private companies have the right to tell people to leave for any reason or no reason?

Big airports like that most likely have some sort of public funding, and of course government employees working there

Almost without exception, airports with commercial airline service are publicly owned. Usually, airports are owned by municipalities, airport authorities, or even by the state. I believe that there was a time that Houston Hobby Airport was privately owned, but I believe that the city purchased it.

As far as funding, small publicly owned airports have 80-90% of their projects funded by the federal government. Large publicly owned airports charge facility fees and projects are fed funded at a lower level.
