I was listening to Peter Schiff talk about monopolies and the supposed wisdom of breaking them up because they're anti-competitive and "too big to fail."

Well, it occurred to me, our 50-state union -- and the dollar, too -- could be described the same way. It is too big to fail. It is monopolistic, anti-competitive.

Our 50-state union serves its people so poorly, maybe it should be broken up so we can have some competition.

Secession is not needed to make the states compete more. A return to the Constitution would accomplish that. It would also break up the dollar's monopoly on monetary exchange and the government's monopoy on money production. All problems answered without secession. Question is, can we get back to the Constitution without secession.

Speaking of Peter Schiff.... Here he is "undercover" at the DNC talking about corporate profits. Priceless.

The Constitution failed to restrain the power of government. I think the omission of a clearly stated right of secession at every level is one of the main defects in the Constitution, although I think it is implied. So if we are going to go "back" to the Constitution, it will need to be with some substantial modifications including the express right to secession, MANY more specific prohibitions on government power, and some serious penalties for politicians who violate the Constitution.

He is talking to the hardcore leftist base. People taking their time to attend the DNC. They've got to be pretty strong anti-market and pro-regulation to be delegates to that convention.

I disagree. The United States is an empire that consists of 300+ million people. The founders never took that in to account. We can not have a Republic with such a large country and so many people, it's just incompatible and not possible. A strong central government is more likely to occur with those two factors taken in to account and the history of this country already has proven that.

A constitution is only good if the powers that be honor it, and clearly they do not.

Properly conditioned marxists. Capitalism bad. Socialism good. Profits bad. Redistribute wealth. Take from those with the ability (productive) give to those in need (unproductive).
Wash, rinse, repeat.
