My local news this evening had a story on a city council that determined the winner by a coin toss. When they showed the coin that was used, it looked like a Kennedy Half Dollar, but I wasn't sure. I Googled the story and found that it was in fact a Kennedy Half Dollar! I also found three seperate cases where just this year, the winner of a city council race was determined by a coin toss. One case in Texas, used a 1974 40% silver Eisenhower Dollar. I find it very interesting that silver coins are used to determine city council winners.
