Hi everyone,
I'm a French student writing my master's thesis on Libertarianism. I'm currently trying to do a little bit of statistics and number crunching to back up what I'm writing.
Anyways, I would appreciate if you could fill-out this really short (2 min) survey: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dG1IRHFrOXdFZDhXWUxJYmo4YlMwWlE6M Q
Thank you
Samuel

The graphs showing how important same-sex marriage and prostitution are to libertarians is telling.
It is not that big of an issue to most, but it is used against us as if it is our #1 concern.

You should send the results to the RNC.

I didn't appreciate how the questions were so open-ended.
"How important is it to you"? Well, if the candidate doesn't say anything at all about same-sex marriage, it's not important to me.
If the candidate says "Marriage is not a function of the state and therefore the state ought not to say anything at all on the matter", then all of a sudden it's a 5.
If the candidate says "under no circumstances should we allow same-sex marriage", then all of a sudden it's a 5.

As I expected abortion is the most divisive issue within the movement.

To Lucille: No I did not see this article, nice find, thanks!
To the person who found the questions too open ended, I agree on some level, but it's how I wanted them. I wanted a general idea first, and I was thinking of maybe doing a second survey with more specific questions a few month down the road, as I am basically just starting my research right now.

Well to be fair he also posted it somewhere else that could explain the overwhelming male response. The comment snippets at the bottom gave it away.

Expatriate is right, but anyway, let's face it, there are usually a lot less women on forums than there are men.

You're welcome. Tragic how Bastiat (http://www.libertarianism.org/people/frederic-bastiat) is virtually unknown in his own country!
You can read him here:

It's next on my to-read list. Bastiat is totally unknown in France, I just started hearing about him when I started my research, but his ideas are so far apart from today's french politics, so I'm not too surprised.
