I am just wondering how much we all work out. I just went for a run for the first time in a while and it has made my thinking much clearer. I just feel way better.

So... do you work out as much as Ron Paul?

"He's very disciplined about his exercise," Benton says, and he also "makes sure to get a little bit of down time every day so he can get caught up on all the latest financial and political news."

And that exercise is no hop around the block.

Benton says Paul walks three miles a day and, when he has time, he also bikes 15 miles a day.

Ron and I are around the same age. Before I was laid up from knee surgery I walked for 60 minutes every morning, swam for 30 minutes every other day and did strength training the other days. I also play golf three times per week (18 holes) and I walk the course - I do have a caddy though, so I do not carry my own bag.

You know...I bet if we all lined up on both sides of the street coast to coast and sent Ron off on his bike he just might make it to the end. I'd stick my thumb up to hitch a ride on that liberty cab. Alas we're reduced to by our own hand to that fake me out thumbs up on facebook. Don't think we'll get very far hitching there. Anyhoo...Ron's pretty healthy. It's not easy what he does.

Lift twice a week (Mike Mentzer ftw), and before I blew up my ankle last summer I was playing basketball 3-5 times a week. It's taken a year and a half, but I'm finally starting to play again.

No. I only manage 40-60 miles a week on the old bike.

I run about 45 - 50 miles per week and do weight training 4 days a week, plus crunches on a near daily basis. I'm 51 and in the best shape of my life.

I'm a physical laborer and get enough exercise from work. More than Ron.

Damn it man! Ron makes me feel like a wuss.

I row 10K at least every other day for 41 - 45 minutes at an intense cardio pace. At home and over the road, but my erg never leaves the trailer, its bolted down - LoL!

PS- if you hate running, bicycling, etc try rowing on an erg by concept2 --- I love this thing. Its very low impact and gives full body workout.

No, but I'm pretty sure I smoke and drink more than he does.

The wife and I do yoga about 3 times a week and I do Karate twice a week, but I think Dr. Paul definitely has me beat...

upper body day 1
lower body day 2
rest day 3
repeat

I suppose you mean like that? Seems like a good way - each body part gets two days off for re-coup.

Na, he probably lifts chest and triceps one day, biceps and back another. That sort of thing.

Or could be something like the Stronglifts program that I use. More compound free weight exercises (squats, bench press, rows, pushups, etc) that focus on full body strengthening instead of isolation or muscle group exercises.

I hit the gym at least weekly and walk the dog daily. Ron definitely gets a lot more exercise than I do.
