That's like asking the federal government to stop taxing, not going to happen. Especially with such low numbers. :(

This was merely for education purposes...

But I understand the plight. It caught my attention merely due to the timing.

Don't get me wrong, great post and one of my favorite subjects. I just wish those numbers were much, much higher.

If you can't beat them maybe it's time to join them?

I remember them coming in to our elementary school and brainwashing us with the concept that there wasn't going to be enough stuff like water and room on the roads for people to have children like we had been having since the beginning of time. At the same time they were opening the floodgates at the border for the world to export their population problem.

It seems that their idea that everyone is entitled to health care has taxed those that tried to plan to the point they no longer can keep the system afloat. That in turn seems to have given some the idea that the socialism that broke it can fix it. Maybe until it appears other wise maybe the rest of us should cancel our insurance and just hit the emergency wards like their favored do. After all I don't think they can turn us away as we are now a minority.

Retirements have all been looted or are in the process of being looted. Perhaps the communist have a plan for that also. After all they seem to think global conquest is more important than saving for our future.

Personally I'm not sure what to do (aside from not letting the original posters petition link have my email address:)).

I think I just try and stand aside for a while.

I look at this as a stress index as the nation. The petitions aren't just out of seriousness, but they're used to send a message. I foresee a future civil war, and this may potentially begin by the end of Obama's second term.

It seems sort of a global thing.

I've heard there are only about four countries that don't have a central bank tied in with the global network. Perhaps before they can knock off the last few others will join the list. Maybe Iceland already has. Maybe others will join.

That... plus...

I'm not knocking the idea of petitions, but can anyone think of an instance where a petition, on its own and by itself, ever changed anything? My impression is that it just gives TPTB something to laugh about.

What if we preserve the Union, but have Washington, D.C. secede?

This. I wouldn't touch that thing with a ten foot pole.

I do think someone should rewrite the one demanding all signers be exiled. I'd like it to be more specific, suggesting that all their property be seized by the USG, and they be exiled to labor camps, just to see how many sigs it would get.

Let's create a petition like that, but specifically targeting those that supported a Ron Paul presidency. Just out of curiosity.

I'm curious about that too! I bet the neo-Trots would be all over it.

Writes a friend:

I am a reformed neo-con...yet still a member of the dreaded complex. Our security folks sent the warning (below) to employees regarding secession petitions. I contend allegiance to your country does not equal allegiance to your goverment, but that's a loosing fight in this industry. Thanks for all you do to champion liberty and sound economics...

You can read the warning at the link.

675,000 secessionists
http://voxday.blogspot.com/2012/11/675000-secessionists.html

That's a lot more Americans than fought the original Revolutionary War. Of course, it's easy to sign a digital petition and rather less easy to spend a hungry winter at Valley Forge, but the size and speed of the response does indicate how Americans feel about Obama's "America"
[...]
I wonder if the United Nations will be as interested in helping those seeking the right to self-determination in Texas and Louisiana as they are in so many other countries around the world? It will also be interesting to see if the Obama administration will continue to argue that Libyan and Syrian separatists need to be armed even as it wonders if it dares try to disarm American separatists.

I have added a petition that I need people to help me, by signing, get it up to 150 signatures so that it will show up on the public page. If you are signing these petitions, and I know some people are apprehensive about signing them and I understand, but if you are signing them please sign and help me promote it on Facebook (again, if you have Facebook). The petition:

Peacefully withdraw the District of Colombia from the Union to allow the Several States to live in Peace and Prosperity. (https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/peacefully-withdraw-district-colombia-union-allow-several-states-live-peace-and-prosperity/WRxrCmkD)

I understand this petitions are merely symbolic, but sowing a seed of where the real problem is is a start. The States do not need to secede, they need to root out the one common problem, Washington DC. We need, in my opinion, to start planting the idea in people's head, THEY need us but WE do not need them.

some of my fellow ron paul supporters were passing this around in group email...
here was my response to them

the president has not authority over secession.
this is moronic in a legal sense.
want to secede? talk to your state legislature.

If you see downfall as the only option, this is yet another wonderful development.
I see downfall as the only option left. So I am very happy to see this.
Right now, it's just venting, but I truly believe it will pick up steam.

I hope you're right. I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

I don't expect anything to come of this, but I am very happy to see secession getting some much-needed publicity and awareness.

The best thing that will probably happen, is hundreds of thousands of people will realize in their anger they just put themselves on a watch list, and then, perhaps, start to understand how giving up your liberties to catch terrorists can backfire quicker than they could imagine.

A Secession Playlist
http://www.theamericanconservative.com/a-secession-playlist/

As Texas apparently wants out of the Union, so El Paso wants out of Texas. Scotland, Croatia, Biafra, the list of decentralist movements, successful and less-so, goes on and on. And I’ll keep cheering for Cascadia even if no one else is (dream big, guys). Here’s a playlist of encouragement for those who still cling to that reactionary, atavistic notion of meaningful self-government.

9. Porter Robinson — The State
Otherwise known as the “libertarian dubstep guy.” This song samples, of all things, a Murray Rothbard speech.
6. Bob Dylan — Union Sundown
Dylan channels Pat Buchanan: “Well, it’s sundown on the union / And what’s made in the U.S.A / Sure was a good idea / Till greed got in the way // Democracy don’t rule the world / You’d better get that in your head / This world is ruled by violence / But I guess that’s better left unsaid” (Off “Infidels,” 1983)
5. Roger Scruton — Lorca Songs
Scruton’s setting of several poems by Federico Garcia Lorca, a poet and playwright murdered by the nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. Check out his articles for TAC about green conservatism and the dangers of democracy.

Did I miss anything? An obscure Tibetan pop song or Flemish separatist ballad? Leave ‘em in the comments.

That's like asking the federal government to stop taxing, not going to happen. Especially with such low numbers. :(

Low numbers??? There are 300,000,000 Americans and only perhaps 50,000,000 of them either work for the government or have vested interest in preserving it. I'd say the powers that be are damn lucky we're being civil about it and giving them fair warning.

Where is there to secede too?

Combine the Red States and Blue States into 2 new nations.
