View Full Version : Does "Ninja Please" really mean "N-word Please?"

Warrior Lacrosse, one of the sport's preeminent equipment companies, recently ran a promotion in which it gave away pairs of its Dojo shoes to people who used the hashtag "Ninja Please."

The marketing campaign is not sitting well with everyone in the lacrosse world. Jovan Miller, a midfielder on the Charlotte Hounds and one of just three African-Americans playing Major League Lacrosse, said that he is boycotting Warrior products because of it.

"The actual meaning behind 'Ninja Please' is the 'N-word Please,'" Miller told WCNC. "They put ninja in it to kind of disguise it."

My friends who would be offended by one would be just as offended by the other. In fact, they might even be a little more pissed because now you're using in-group language and trying to be cute about it. I think it might add another layer of offensiveness to it.

As an ad campaign... I don't know. Saying it to the wrong person in the wrong place is going to lead the roughly the same outcome I suspect.

Niggard.

We used to use "niggardly" all the time... would get "the look" at times from some pig ignorant people. I always found it rather amusing.

Why is it that so many African-American's take the term ****** offensively? Historically, it's accurate definition was used to condemn ignorance, and not solely skin color. Even my ancestors, who were both White-Irish Immigrants, and Native-American (Cherokee), were referred to as "******s."

Oh yeah, now I know why. Education no longer exists, and the peoples mind have been consumed by political correctness, and pop culture.

So it is all about the word and everyone is dancing around it and joking about it but no one dares to say the word ******? Am I correct? My English is not perfect so...

Wierd. It is strange because I thought that will be big news. Strange.

P.s.
This shit got censorship machine. I didnt know this is so big of a deal in US.

P.p.s.

I wrote shit just to see if shit is also censored because I thought that word "shit" is used more.

The younger generation doesn't care. They did not have to live through the Jim Crow era and the Civil Rights Movement. The meaning of words does change through time and context is everything. Twenty more years and no one will gaf.

It is a replacement phrase. Often meant to be ironic, other times simply in attempt to sound cool.

Yeah, kind of like the phrase 'get the fudge out.' First time I'd ever heard someone say 'my ninja' or 'ninja please' was a black kid in our school trying to be funny by getting around the cussing rules. The teacher was pretty pissed but he didn't get in trouble once explaining all he said was ninja. It's actually more popular than many think.. not that I'd ever partaken in that idiotic trend. Just kids being kids IMO.
