Wasting no time Obama May Levy Carbon Tax to Cut the U.S. Deficit, HSBC Says

Barack Obama may consider introducing a tax on carbon emissions to help cut the U.S. budget deficit after winning a second term as president, according to HSBC Holdings Plc. A carbon tax starting at $20 a ton of carbon dioxide equivalent and rising at about 6 percent a year could raise $154 billion by 2021, Nick Robins, an analyst at the bank in London, said today in an e-mailed research note, citing Congressional Research Service estimates.

$154 over 8 years would barely put a dent in the deficits. Why even bother?

To control - new procedures and policies to be followed. Those who do not follow the clearly explained policies will be penalized.
To surval - new reporting requirements that are required of the new policies.
To bribe - new clearing housing will need to be established for the "free market" of carbon trading.
To destroy - new businesses and small businesses, since they will not be allowed to compete.
To aid - in the destruction of the republic.

Consider the source(s). Bloomberg quoting analysts from the Bank of London and HSBC and we're supposed to believe this is for the environment. Bank of London analysts usually aren't the first people in line to help save the polar bears. Why don't they just tax our tea again so we get with this party started (again)!

Hahahahaha. You are being charitable. Over a period of 8 years $150 billions falls behind filing cabinets at the DOD.

I definitely support a carbon tax. It's precisely the kind of taxes we should have. Just like our excise taxes on oil.

Is the house no longer the only branch that can constitutionally levy taxes? Or did a certain so called scholar forget we have a constitution?

Are you nuts? CO2 is no longer a factor in global warming since it is already absorbs virtually all of the IR radiation that it possibly can.
