the forecast isn't good.

With the election of progressive Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Obama’s longtime backers feel the liberal spirit inside the president could be unleashed: climate change, gun control, and immigration reform perhaps heading to the top of the agenda. (After, that is, the “fiscal cliff.”)

Of this we all ready knew. We also all ready knew Romney was no better. Your point?

I'm surprised how quickly the mask was thrown off. At least with romney, there was a modicum of control set in place. With Obama, he's free to do what he likes with no repurcussions. And the media is complicit to boot. The man is unstoppable.

Control? You're blind. When a Republican President gets into office he is often times much worse than the Democrat, which is unfathomably hard to accomplish, but yet they succeed time and time again. At least with Obama, there'll be some resistance. We all know there is none when a Gopher is in there due to 'party loyalty'.

But there is no fourth estate. Obama is impervious to scandals because they are immediately buried. I'm very wary of this individual throwing around his political weight, after what we saw him do in the first term. His administration is one of the most secretive in U.S. history and has gone out of their way to punish whistleblowers.

What these folks are deluded about is in thinking that Obama actually CARES about their issues. They are just as deluded as the Romney supporters who believed that somehow all the screwed-up things he had said were just to get him elected and THEN he would unleash the free market etc. Bull. Obama already got the one thing he wanted - to be President. And he already promised and delivered what was required in exchange - a massive transfer of wealth into the coffers of the special interest groups that put him into power.

Obama doesn't personally give a rat's ass about gun control, climate change, gay marriage, abortion, or any of the other issues important to deluded democrats. He "might" have instructions to care about immigration to the extent it consolidates party power for the future. Other than that, not. The people who have tried to cast him as some kind of committed socialist are giving him way too much credit. He, like Romney, is an empty shell.

But you're overlooking one key factor. All those issues are predicated on control. And we have ample evidence that he has no problems about grabbing and consolidating more power from the citizenry. He's essentially a merc who enjoys his job. Secondly, he has shown to be a very prideful and vengeful creature with a long memory.

Maybe. Time will tell. But he has bigger fish to fry.

I agree with you and acala. He is an empty shell who doesn't care about any of the initiatives mentioned. He just wants power and any means possible to get it, will be used.
