Earlier this morning, I wrote that the GOP needs to find new leadership, new voices, and most importantly new approaches to conservatism that will allow a broader range of voters to relate to its core values. Of all the players we have on the bench, Rubio is clearly the best we have for that role. We discussed this last night on the Hugh Hewitt Show when Dennis Prager joined us by phone just as Ohio got called for Obama. Prager insisted that the Republican Party’s next leader needs to be Rubio, who represents and explains the core values of conservatism better than any other Republican at the national level, and who understands how to relate it to a broader range of voters.

The Republicans want to go all in with the Hispanic strategy. A complete failure I may add.

What has Rubio ever done apart from issue silly statements? He is a complete fraud who probably won't even win re-election in Florida

That may be a strategy worth pursuing.

Put another way, if the public had much confidence in Republican leadership to conduct foreign policy responsibly or act as competent stewards of the economy the party’s demographic woes would be substantially alleviated. The GOP is failing to win adherents outside of its core constituencies, but a key reason for this is that it has proven itself manifestly unfit for government. The Bush era was a disaster for the Republican Party, and it isn’t going to be able to recover until it recognizes this, repudiates the failures of that era, and demonstrates that it has learned from the experience. If it can repair the damage that Bush-era Republicans did to the party’s reputation on managing foreign policy and the economy, it might be given a second chance and receive a hearing from people who have learned to distrust its representatives.

Rubio is young and charismatic. But he’s a vocal supporter of the Bush-era policies that voters have twice rejected, especially on foreign policy. One lesson of this election is that Americans do not want another war. I doubt their appetite for confrontation will increase over the next four years.
[...]
Republicans have a history of seeking a charismatic personality to lead them to victory. In recent years, this has allowed them to avoid the unpleasant task of facing the reality of the national electorate and the consequences of their policies. Romney’s defeat has given Republicans an opportunity to reconsider their most politically toxic commitments: a foreign policy of endless war, and tax policies that most directly benefit the rich. It would be a shame to squander that opportunity by searching for a perfect messenger for the same old message.

Absolutely!

Rubio is also, as everyone knows, of Cuban origin. Republicans are deluding themselves, however, if they think that will impress the Mexican-American or Mexican-born citizens who make up the bulk of the “Hispanic” vote. The Republican party does have to find ways to appeal to non-white voters. But tokenism based on a misunderstanding of ethnic and cultural divisions is unlikely to get the job done.

Wait until the Jim Greer trial happens, and you'll very possibly see some dirty laundry come out about Rubio. Google for "RPOF credit cards rubio"
