View Full Version : Why It Is Better to Donate NOW

Caught up in all the hoopla over the tea party is the fact that the campaign legitimately needs money now to be effective, as that most recent email stated. For those of you pissed off and feeling slighted about it, think for a second. It is your money going to the campaign, would you rather it be spent when there are less than 2 weeks left before criticial primaries and it might not be as effective, or NOW, when it will go into commercials that may actually bring votes and more donations to Ron Paul? The sooner the campaign gets money, the better, because the more money they get, the more supporters in primary states, the more the polling percentage goes up, the more people feel he is worth investing time in/voting on, the more money ends up coming in. The sooner we donate, the better. This whole "I'm going to donate on the 16th, fuck the campaign" mentality is absurd - give all you can NOW, let new donors give later. I know its fun and all to have our little money bombs but this is a textbook case of missing the forest for the trees. Get a grip of the big picture, abandon the tea party, and lets do this NOW, at the most critical time where there are still so many undecided voters on the cusp that we can snatch up with good advertising.

Abandon the tea party? Idiot.
It's not either/or. Do both. Donate $50 today, and $50 on Tea Party

or 50% now and 50% later
or
75% 25% later
or you get the point

Or, donate 100 now when it is worth more than it would be on december 16th. November 5th legitimized paul enough to where a traditional ad campaign with the issues paul is advocating, plus the power of the grassroots, should be effective to win some states, but we need TIME on our side. Donating on the 16th is so much less effective - the campaign needs the money NOW. All of this posturing is just grassroots hubris, and it needs to be set aside. You all read the email - it wasnt intended to derail or slight the grassroots, if anything it helps us out as well because it makes our contributions work more. Get the wool out of your eyes.

Donate now, donate the 16th. It's that simple.
We will still need campaign cash for the later primary states like Florida, California, and Nevada.

For me, it is either, or. I do not have the option of donating some today and the same amount n the 16th that I plan to. So, I choose the 16th. If you can afford to donate today and NOT effect your donation on the 16th, that is great but I think the campaign is being shortsighted when they ask people to forego the 16th and donate now.

Yes, certainly it is the people spending the money on ads and commercials that are shortsighted and do not know what they need.
Its your money, do what you want with it. But once your donate it, it will be the campaign's money, and I think they know a bit more about how they need to spend money than the grassroots. I think this "stay the course" attitude is going to hurt us significantly, especially when the campaign has explicitly asked us to donate ASAP.

I say we just do a Thanksgiving Day Money Bomb this week.
I mean let's face it it's fun and exciting to see the campaign number shoot upward instead of trickle up when we come together and create a donation surge. So lets come together and donate on Turkey Day to help elect Ron Paul.
Yes this is short notice but even if this one is only half as successful we might still push the number past 10 million.
Also I want to say we ought to still have the TeaParty event and I still plan to donate for that but in the mean time this would help boost the campaign between now and December.
What good will it do if we give the campaign a big chunk of cash at a time when they can't benefit from it when it is most needed (Iowa caucus and NH primary)? Commercials have to be bought IN ADVANCE. Time slots fill up and there are minimum lead times. If the campaign can't do media buys until two weeks before the caucus, it will simply be too late. The best they could do is have ads running just a couple of days before the actual election - long after people will have mostly made up their minds.
If they need the money now, let's give it to 'em now!
And don't forget we need to show up Huckabee today and beat his money bomb!

Thats a good point. That's why I say DONATE NOW, and DONATE on DEC 16!

If you can only afford to donate another $100 you should donate it all now instead of doing $50 and $50 on the 16th. Stop whining because your precious party is ruined and swallow your pride.

I will donate on the second with ALL of my birthday money. The CAMPAIGN has asked us for it, its not just some supporter that wants their idea to be the best. Sorry, no TeaParty for me now. I doe what the campaign needs to get Ron Paul elected.
