"Just when you think the cable TV viewing experience couldn't get any worse, GeekWire reports on the Microsoft Xbox Incubation team's patent-pending Consumer Detector, which uses cameras and sensors like those in the Xbox 360 Kinect controller to monitor, count and in some cases identify the people in a room watching television, movies and other content. Should the number of viewers detected exceed the limits of a particular content license, the system would halt playback unless additional viewing rights were purchased."

Think not about what is here now, think about the future.

So what happens when you use your microwave to pop some microwave popcorn and have too many people in your house? Are microwave ovens going to have a camera built in too? How about a car that will not start unless all seatbelts are clicked? Now what if attempts to start a car without these seatbelts called the police automatically? What if the "Rights of Companies" were so invasive that they trampled what is left of the "Persons Rights"? Privacy? Gone. Personal Ownership? Toast. Freedom? History. The only right that Corporations care about is finding more and more invasive ways to hold their customers hostage. Companies used to produce things. Now, its all about finding manipulative ways to charge their customers again for shit they already paid for. What if Monsanto charged you not only for the purchase of an apple, but charged you again to shit it out? I should be more careful with what I say as it is monitored, and may give some on the other side ideas...

Sounds like an opportunity for their competition to provide something better.

There were several years back in the 70s when new cars would NOT start unless the seat belt was fastened. And then if you unhooked it, it sounded a buzzer until you latched the seatbelt again. Public outrage cause the rule to be retracted.

They are probably ready to try it again.

But really, think to the future. Will it soon become illegal for you to self drive a car instead of just letting Google do it for you?

Hard to say, but public roads have been one of the most common excuses for government to invade liberty so it would not surprise me to see it again.

You choose to buy the product.

This is a major key to winning the future for liberty. Don't buy these products.
