Don Volaric, who is running a spirited campaign against Democratic Congressman Sandy Levin has received an endorsement that burnishes his conservative/libertarian credentials – the backing of Ron Paul.
Volaric, a Chesterfield Township Republican, was ecstatic when he learned that the Texas congressman and three-time presidential candidate was lending his support.
In his letter of support, Paul said he sees Volaric in the fight against the erosion of individual liberties such as warrantless wiretaps, unlawful detainments, out-of-control spending and a Federal Reserve that continues to devalue our currency.

Making his second consecutive run against Levin, Volaric has repeatedly clarified that he labels himself a conservative, not a Republican. The Paul endorsement suggests that the candidate’s leanings are libertarian.
One Volaric photo that shows up online repeatedly shows the GOP nominee carrying a sign that says “Audit The Fed” – a favorite issue for Paul’s libertarian followers. In the lone debate in the new 9th Congressional District, Volaric said that he would bring U.S. troops in Afghanistan home “tomorrow” – again, a view that’s in tune with Paul.

Volaric also said he opposed the rescue loans for the auto industry because government should never pick “winners and losers.”

In his letter to Volaric, Paul specifically authorized this quote:
"I endorse Don Volaric's campaign for Congress. His dedication to limited government and personal liberties is exactly what we need in Washington."
