I've heard but never seen this, well here it is...

I don't get it? What possible purpose does this serve?

So... people always joke about afghans doing it with goats. Now we potentially have military personnel that can do it with the same said animal and not get in trouble? O_O

No reason to outlaw bestiality unless the animal is hurt, no reason to outlaw sodomy between consenting adults.

Removing antiquated code is not equal to "legalizing" or "endorsing".

How does the animal go about consenting?

How does the animal go about consenting?

Animals are incapable of consenting. That is why we can eat them without violating the NAP.

Thank goodness!

Now maybe I can enjoy my next blowjob without worrying about stormtroopers kicking in the bedroom door and causing the ol' lady to chomp down in fright.

LOL. Found the original article: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/senate-approves-bill-legalizes-sodomy-and-bestiality-us-military

Okay. If we were really on our "A" game, we'd call every conservative talk show in the U.S. with this bit of information and ask why so many conservatives voted to decriminalize sodomy and bestiality in the military. Forget the libertarian "Why should it be illegal anyway" position for a moment. This is an opportunity to rub the stupidity of the NDAA in the faces of those who supported it! In fact, Rand should introduce a bill that repeals both indefinite detention of U.S. citizens and reinstates the anti-bestiality provision. Force Lindsey Graham to vote to keep bestiality legal!

It is still listed in the 2012 version of the Manual for Courts Martial.

http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/law/mcm.pdf

It still lists sodomy and bestiality. One thing I see that might be new was a new element that says:

4. That the act was done by force and without the consent of the other person.

I will dig more for changes to the manual

i noticed double posts are getting more frequent.

at any rate, i thought christian conservatives would be against sodomy.

More info, Obama signed the 2011 NDAA which supposedly contained this clause but according to the official US Code as of 1/03/2012 Article 125 was still part of the UCMJ and it does not show any new changes.

Sorry that was the 2012 NDAA signed on Dec 31 2012

I found the actual public law

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/PLAW-112publ81/pdf/PLAW-112publ81.pdf

It only discusses changes to Article 120, which is for Rape. They revamped that section several years ago and have been tweaking it ever since.

How is removing a ban on fucking animals "antiquated?"

No doubt the practice was more of an issue when the country was predominantly agricultural and this law was written. And obviously society's norms on sexual activity between consenting adults has changed since then.

1) How has society's norm on sexual activity changed in reference to bestiality?
2) How is an animal a consenting adult?

I didn't say that. I said that it's probably not as big of a problem as it originally was when the law was written, and I also specified that not having a law about something does not imply "endorsement" or necessarily make it specifically legal. Other laws may apply.

Do you think we need a law for everything? Is this a big issue for you?
