I have a question: WTH does this mean? (p. 3)

House, third district (central): First-termer Justin Amash (R., B−) is touted as a strong advocate of conservative values, but he certainly is not on gun rights. Judge (and former state representative) Steve Pestka (D., A−) has the stronger record

Edit-Everybody should respectfully point out in the comments section that the Amash is one of the STRONGEST defender of gun rights in Congress.

Edit-I think this may give insight on a possible Amsh-Kopel feud http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?97046-Rep-Justin-Amash-lied-to-the-NRA

Edit-Can we move this to the Amash forum?

National Review is supporting Mandate Mitt the Gun Banner.

They have no credibility on the gun issue AFAIC, even though I like Kopel.

Do you think it was an honest mistake?

Maybe this explains it: http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?97046-Rep-Justin-Amash-lied-to-the-NRA

Kopel is linked in the thread. Seems like a disagreement over Commerce Clause authority.

It seems to me that preventing states from impeding travel and the movement of commerce between States is one of the very few PROPER uses of the commerce power.

Perhaps it doesn't have to with the bill cited in that gun forum thread as much as it does with Kopel checking the NRA ratings.

District 3

*Justin Amash (R)
Grade: B-
Status: Incumbent

Steve Pestka (D)

Status: Candidate

The disagreement with the NRA seems to be centered on Amash voting against national Concealed Carry Reciprocity based on the inapplicability of the Commerce Clause. I disagree with Amash on this one, because I believe that the 2nd Amendment provides justification for national conceal carry reciprocity without touching the commerce clause. That doesn't make him any weaker on guns though. The NRA is splitting hairs to force a pro-establishmentarian outcome. The NRA has done this before, and the NRA will do it again.

It is dangerous during elections since there are troubles and gun use is common. I think, it would be better to ban the use of guns just on the election to promote safety and prevent chaos.
