http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/10/29/cw-airing-repeats-tonight-due-to-hurricane-sandy/155167/

this one is a joke-the CW doesn't even broadcast the debates or any other news

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/10/29/cbs-to-air-hawaii-five-0-repeat-tonight-original-pushed-a-week-due-to-storm/155163/

I suppose the 1 hour special is justified, but repeats instead of "dated" Halloween comedies?

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/10/29/nbc-pre-empting-go-on-the-new-normal-tuesday-for-storm-coverage/155201/

again, justified but this puts there Halloween shows to Nov 13

does anyone think if Miami or Dallas or even Chicago had no power that this would happen?

I think thats ridiculous.

When we got our onslaught of canes in 2004 and 2005 I don't remember them canceling new programming. I believe the local stations ended up playing it at like 1:00 in the morning sometime after the storm.

CBS is doing it too.

The 1% is struggling for survival, so we have to watch reruns. Bastards.

yeah, there has been a lot of news coverage for a Cat 1 hurricane. i guess because its actually landing near the national news rooms. i've never seen hurricane prepareness tips as headline news on major networks... but for this storm there were plenty.
They were even comparing this storm to Katrina. Katrina was a Cat 5 that came in on a major city built below sea level.
The worst that can happen with Sandy is the storm mixing with a frontal storm and dumping massive rain and ice on the region for several days.

I get that people in the Northeast tend to make more money than people in other parts of the US but millions of people are expected to lose power from VA to ME. This isn't about the 1%.

Katrina's storm surge max was 25ft high.
Sandy's storm surge with high tide and full moon is max 10ft.

latest figures from CNN is 2.5 million; that is about 1%

I doubt the networks care about Maine ; its NYC

This storm is a whimp

we'd be having parties here for such a storm. thankful its wasn't a really bad one.

Yes, but on the other hand New Yorkers won't even blink - they'll just get back to their business. The New Orleans crowd is still whining, I think.

Sandy is just officially making landfall in NYC right now, and storm surge is presently reading 13.81 feet

let me fill you in on who is whining for new orleans... the bitch-ass welfarist who are now living elsewhere because they were all moved to places like houston, dallas, atlanta..etc. The welfarist were bused all over.. and they stayed.
The only people in new orleans are the people who want to be there and contribute.
whatever whining you sense is from those no longer apart of that community, or politicians looking to milk a lil' tragedy.
In fact, the people I know in New Orleans would kick your ass for saying such a thing.

for instance, we had a cat 1(maybe 2) earlier this year. for us, it was like a welcomed afternoon shower.

Meanwhile, tonight’s Washington DC premiere of Seal Team 6: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden, which was postponed until Thursday, is now back on. The screening will be held 6 PM ET at the Hay Adams Hotel. “The show must go on,” said Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company is behind the action pic. “We don’t want anybody to be unsafe, but if you’re just walking across the street or down the block, why not come?” Weinstein, who is staying at the hotel, said the plan to wait until Thursday is now on hold, because it looks like attendance will be pretty good. The movie is set to air on Nat Geo on November 4, two days before the presidential election.

Us crazies down here go surfing in Cat 1's. :p

Luckily for me though, I live in a part of Florida that thanks to geographical disposition, is pretty insulated from the brunt of the vast majority of hurricanes (Tampa / St. Pete / Clearwater area).
