View Full Version : Obama ad wants Virgins to do it with a great guy

In her controversial new Obama ad, "Your First Time," the actress who mocked herself as "a voice for a generation" in her show, has some advice for the first-time voter: When the time comes… to vote, it's "super uncool" to say you weren't ready.

Dunham says in her monologue, sounding very much like her twenty-something, relationship-obsessed TV show character,

Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy…Someone who cares about and understands women. A guy who cares about whether you get health care insurance, specifically, whether you get birth control.

The consequences are huge. You want to do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq. You don't want a guy who says, 'Oh hey, I'm at the library studying,' when really he's out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act.

Not everyone was so taken with the sex joke in the ad. The Right Scoop called the ad "Disgusting."

First,

I have no idea who Lena Dunham is.

Second,

I guess Obama only wants women and gays to vote for him. When I think about it, as a guy, it is really disgusting.

Third,

Are women just now realizing they have the right to vote? I just don't get all the feminine pride. I see these T-Shirts and Bumper stickers that read: "I'm a woman and I vote." Okay great! So were your mothers, grandmothers, and possibly your great-grandmothers. They probably didn't brag about it, either.

Taking the analogy a step further, though, I like the ad. A voter's first time shouldn't just be with whoever's available (on the ballot). A voter's first time should be with someone special, someone they choose to be with, someone with integrity and who has an ability to be understanding and suitably gentle. A voter's first time should NOT be with some swaggering rich bozo full of empty promises.

So, I guess what I'm saying is... if the person you really want isn't on the ballot... abstain and work to get the right one on there next time ;)

Nice, that would probably be the top comment on the youtube video if reposted there in some form.

I was almost waiting for the "oh, and voting for the black guy will piss your dad off" line.

Voting is kinda like losing your virginity. You're almost sure to have regrets in both instances.

The democratic party and it's various arms are sex crazed with some of these ads they promote. It appears that every likely voter they're addressing, is supposed to be some ultra radicalized whore. Abortion. contraceptives. promiscuity. It's pretty demeaning.

Probably one of Obama's relatives on his mother side.

I am sure it was tested before being released. I don't like the ad, and if they want to win, they need to pull it fast. Sure it may work with many women, but it won't work with many conservative voters. I know they aren't targeting conservatives, but their goal shouldn't be to alienate them either. If this ad motivates people to vote, most likely they won't be voting for Obama.

Sandra Fluke give a speech and people wearing buttons that said "Sluts Vote!". http://cvxn.tumblr.com/post/30960028516/danforth-melissa-harris-perry-love-this-so

It's like they wanted to turn off moderates.

YES. I thought it was just some hipster doing an Obama commercial on her own...The 'Bamster is getting desperate. This ad is purely to shore up the base...with less than 11 days to go.

The best part of this Obama ad is the built-in assumption that no matter what, we're all going to be bending over for the next few years.

A little birdie told me this isn't even an original ad. Excellent catch. It was already done... as an ad for Putin.

One would think that if they're going to make an ad where some girl sits there and makes a few backhanded sexual references, that they would feature someone who is at least somewhat attractive unlike the one in the Obama ad.

I'm not a woman, but I think I would view this as being pretty demeaning if I were a woman. Apparently the Obama administration thinks that the typical woman is just some promiscuous slut who needs taxpayers to pay for contraception and multiple abortions. To them, women only care about having as much sex as possible and nothing else.

Does aborting a female embryo infringe upon its own reproductive rights?

Not quite. Later in the ad, she also mentions how uncool it is to remain a virgin when everybody else is doing it.
