Trump is bound and determined to get Obama elected, and he's not above using the fact that people hate him to do it. It'll be interesting to see what sort of 'praising Obama with faint condemnation' this turns out to be.

So many times announcements just don't live up to the hype. I have a feeling this will be one of those times.

Of course it won't live up to the hype. It's Donald Trump. Him and Allred need to disappear.

Rumors are that it's divorce paperwork from 2000. How the hell would that be remotely relevant? There are so many things wrong with Obama, that this is gonna annoy me if it is made an issue over what he's actually done as President.

This will be something ridiculous and overhyped that will do absolutely nothing.

He's going to draw up sympathy for Obama with this stunt. You watch.

He's probably trying to get more twitter followers or something.

If he had something big why not do a press conference?

Yep. This will be like when Osama Bin Laden supposedly released a video that said "Vote for John Kerry or else".

Not what I expected and not sure if this even effects the race at all. I don't expect the president to release the information that is being requested.

Why doesn't he hire an really good investigation team with that $5million if he's really interested in the truth.

 Donald Democrat. This is a win win for Obama. He can ignore trump and gain more sympathy from his base while not losing any ground with independents. Or he can cobble something together, release it, look like a hero for getting 5M from a raving lunatic on the right, and still gain more sympathy from his base.

Trump's just trolling for a tax break.

Why not make it interesting and offer $20 million? Five million don't go as far as it used to, ya' know. :p

If I took him seriously I'd call him a fool for thinking Obama would want $5 million donated to any charities.

As it is, the reason I think he's a fool is more vague. But I definitely still do.

He pulled a Krugman Debate (http://krugmandebate.com/), but unlike Bob Murphy, Trump, for better or worse, is a major celebrity and can bring this message to the masses that just might be able to hammer Obama as a Grinch for not letting a charity get $5 million for free, which I don't think he'll do b/c I has something to hide. This makes Obama look bad to voters. But releasing documents that reveal something Obama wanted to hide also makes him look bad (or at worst, criminal). So unless Obama is squeaky clean, he's backed into a corner and has no good options. So it was a good move for Trump, who winds up looking like a good guy if the records are released simply b/c $5 million for charity looks good for anyone

I dunno, I think it makes Trump look cynical partisan toolbox. Trump probably donates at least $5M a year to charity anyway, so this would just come out of that spending. If Obama acknowledges this in the least though, he's done for.

Reason (http://reason.com/blog/2012/11/02/running-away-from-sandy-gary-johnson-sto): People hate Donald Trump so much that his comments and stunts are actually encouraging voters to support Democrats.

LOL... Thank God he hardly had a good thing to say about RP!

Politically opinionated celebrities definitely have power to affect elections, according to an Oct. 29 survey of likely voters by The Hollywood Reporterpollster Penn Schoen Berland. But sometimes voters do the exact opposite of what the celebrities recommend, because many voters despise celebs who talk politics.
