Apparently Amash's office was McGovern's office for a while: https://twitter.com/repjustinamash/status/260029624896073728

i liked him. i voted for him in 1972. he was an ideologue and i am going to miss him.
in the 1990s i voted for CEO ross perot & then 4 years ago i happily joined the RPfs!
i bought a DON'T BLAME ME, I'M FROM MASSACHUSETTS bumper sticker years ago.

You'll want to take that off if Romney wins....

years ago i never took its back sticker off. it got sorta discolored. i held onto it. i was planning to run as a Democrat but it would be neat
to pull it out from a coat pocket and talk about it were i ever to address a crowd at a campaign rally or informal get together some time...

No one outside of South Dakota would remember McGovern at all if Tricky Dick Nixon and his team of 'Ratfuckers' hatchet men hadn't harassed Muskie so continually and mercilessly that it frustrated him literally to tears...

voting for someone like good ole george mcgovern is something that makes perfect sense
to a developing teenaged brain, hense our potus & his tight 2008 romp over a 'nam war vet

McGovern was positively moderate compared to Obama.

McGovern was positively moderate compared to Obama.

I dont know about that. He was good on civil liberty and FP issues, but domestically the dude was a wreck

He gave one of the best anti-war speeches:

“Every Senator in this chamber is partly responsible for sending 50,000 young Americans to an early grave... This chamber reeks of blood... it does not take any courage at all for a Congressman or a Senator or a President to wrap himself in the flag and say we are staying in Viet Nam, because it is not our blood that is being shed.”
