There are rumors circulating arround the progressive blogoshpere that Paul Ryan is a member or at least closely associated with the John Birch Society.
You can think about the JBS what you want (I'm not a member, not even an American), but their positions are certainly closer to Ron Paul's political ideas than anything I've ever heard from Romney or Ryan.
I've called these rumors "FALSE" because the JBS itself has quite harshly criticised Ryan in videos and articles of their own magazine (The New American). Our own RPF member FrankRep (who identifies as a JBS member) has refuted the rumors here (incl. links to JBS statements about Ryan):

The funny thing about these rumors is that Mitt Romney has been linked to the JBS, too: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?361561-John-Birch-Society-supporter-Cleon-Skousen-was-Romney-s-professor-!

To me it seems that the term "JBS" is some kind of proxy for "evil right wing" amoung progressives, so they just link their GOP adversaries to the JBS without any substantial evidence.

I wonder if he floated that rumor himself to get Constitutional credibility?

I mean, how turned off can people be about flouride-haters that the Constitution isn't more persuasive?

I'm an official member of the John Birch Society.

The John Birch Society doesn't support Paul Ryan nor Mitt Romney.

@FrankRep

Oh, we never thought for a moment the admiration went in that direction. And he doesn't dare say he likes JBS because it isn't PC. So a rumor is perfect.

Funny how a taboo against others can be created.

I've found myself caught up with going along with the haters for decades only to find myself feeling I've been misguided.

Maybe that is the thing? Maybe instead of listening to the haters hate, I should be listening to those that are pointing out others good points. That has to be where it is at. We have to build on each others good points if we are all going to come around.

I'm not leaving this post without a link to The New American (http://www.thenewamerican.com/). Check them out and see if they have something that could help you build on your good side.

What, are you nuts?

You can't divide and conquer if you only break a few eggs. To divide and conquer you have to break a lot of eggs.

Now lay off of the silly warm fuzzy crap and get cracking!

All that goofy tolerance, open-minddness and understanding might get you into heaven someday, but it won't get you anywhere in the meantime!

Ha. Ha.:)

There seems to be plenty to go around now-a-days. I checked out my own link. Even over at The New American there is plenty of stick poking and eye gouging. The hell of it is, heaven isn't a later thing, it is more of a living it now type of thing. Then again sometimes a very naughty thing can feel pretty darn good!:p
