That one happened right down the road from me and was never solved.
Lubbock police are investigating whether the recent murder of a Dallas woman is linked to five other unsolved murders involving prostitutes since 1999.
The body of Stephanie Williams, 43, of Dallas was discovered wrapped in a bloody sheet in an industrial area in east Lubbock on Jan. 25.
A week later, police arrested Kenneth Ray Dunn, 54, in Lancaster and charged him with murder. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
The bodies of five other prostitutes have been discovered in the same area in the past 13 years. Williams had been convicted of prostitution in 1999.
“We have certain evidence that we believe will tie us eventually to someone in those cases,” said Capt. Jonathan Caspell of the Lubbock Police Department. “Since he’s [Dunn] part of this, he’ll be looked at, but as far as we know, he’s not in any way connected to those other cases.”
Dunn’s attorney, Mark Snodgrass, could not be reached for comment.
All the victims were left in a remote area, but their bodies were not concealed.
Most of them were savagely beaten or stabbed to death. One was strangled.
