he's right. if hillary is the democratic nominee, the republicans will insist on a rudy or romney to run against her. but if obama were nominated, the gop would need an outsider, a maverick, to run against him. that would normally be mccain, but he's squandered his opportunity. and huckabee just doesn't have the funds or national organization to pull it off. i don't see any winning option for the gop versus obama but ron paul (or against hillary for that matter, but the repub establishment won't admit it).

so my proposition is this: whenever you can't convince a democrat to switch for paul, end the effort by suggesting they look at obama, who is at least a little less pro-war than hillary, and a little less of a slick lawyer. he scares me less than clinton, and he'd be easier to beat in 2012 - we all know hillary would dig in as deep and hard as she could. and his nomination would tip things a bit further in our favor. every little bit helps.
