What details do you want? No one disputes that the commitment violates the law. The statute is complicated, though, so few understand it well enough to form an opinion about what it means (few lawyers even). I had time to study this statute while I was detained for one year under it.

This is why I don't understand all the energy many of you put into discussing legislation. The DOJ laughs at the law, because no one is brave enough to effectively keep them in check.

Isn't Barrett Brown the guy who was portraying himself as the "face" of Anonymous?

I suck at reading minds, and no one has answered my question above, so I still don't understand what's being asked, if anything is really being asked.

Those links you posted will certainly confuse the issue further. Here's a critique of them: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17VzFJXaW7Ifb2rVZQ0V_1e0zVPGzryR6zV9bF4BcFkk/edit

In short, the opinions you cite totally fail to address the issue of this thread.

He has spoken about them, though he admits he holds no special position in Anon

YHGTBFKM. I clicked your f'n google doc, and clicked the case number which took me here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/17VzFJXaW7Ifb2rVZQ0V_1e0zVPGzryR6zV9bF4BcFkk/edit?pli=1), the same one you just linked to above, and they were at the bottom of that f'n page. I'm done trying to figure out your posts and then being talked to like I'm a dumbass when you talk in f'n riddles. Over and f'n out.

okay so you don't dispute that the commitment is illegal. Any maybe more relevantly, you can't find a lawyer anywhere who would dispute it. So the commitment is evidently illegal, but no one's going to deter the government.

He threatened a federal agent in a video and posted it online

Really? What were his exact words?

“Barrett Lancaster Brown transmitted messages through the Internet on his Twitter.com account and his YouTube.com account, threatening to shoot and injure agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and specifically focusing on Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent [RS],” reads the indictment.

The second count – conspiracy to make publically available restricted personal information of an employee of the United States – alleges that the suspect “knowingly and willfully did combine, conspire, confederate and agree with other persons […] to make restricted personal information about FBI Special Agent [RS] and his immediate family publicly available.”

So much for his exact words, just trust the government's representations? All these years we've been wasting money on trials and evidence, when we can just take the government's charges as proof of guilt.

Fine...believe whatever you want to believe. Unicorns, UFOs, government conspiracies against douchebags, I don't really care. See ya

So much for your dramatically announced departure from this thread.

If the DOJ isn't paying you for your contributions here, they should be. So what if Brown is guilty or stupid? The government is breaking the law, and when the government breaks the law, it breeds disrespect for law, and it invites anarchy. Inane gifs notwithstanding, anarchy is exactly what you deserve when you excuse illlegal abductions by the government.
