We had a guy around here die the same way, trying to steal the copper out of an A/C unit. Almost set the whole house on fire when he lit up.

Fuck, I'd take my chances robbing a bank before I'd ever fuck with that much electricity.(not that I'd ever do either, just saying, I abhor thievery, and LOVE when justice is served to them, especially when it's this poetic.).

Not surprised, I found out about it in 2006, but knew it had been happening a while before that. Just didn't know how long. In KC people have to put serious cages around their A/C units or they get stolen.

We had to lock up all of our stuff at all times when I did A/C work with a roommate...in the mid 90's. It really started picking up back then, then tapered off somewhat, then exploded again in the early/late 2000's. Sign of the times.
