Does that mean they will un-arrest the maker of the video they blamed the whole thing on?

They arrested him on a parole (or probation?) violation. Using the internet when he wasn't supposed to. So no.
They always use petty crimes to take down free speech.

This story isn't making many headlines...under rug swept?

State Department Official: There was no Protest Outside Libya Embassy (VIDEO)
October 10, 2012 5:54 am 0 comments
...
Up until now, U.S. officials have clearly stated that the attack was prompted by the release of an anti-Islamic film. Ambassador Susan Rice made it clear to David Gregory in a Meet the Press appearance, as pointed out by The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg:
...
Now according to ABC’s Jonathan Karl, “we are hearing new details, details that we have never heard before about what went down, and this is significantly different from what we were told at the time.”

“Now we are told there was no protest going on outside that embassy,” he said.

I'm *shocked* that our government lied about this.

Absolutely shocked.

Just as troubling is that some people even here believed this to begin with.

Why do people continue to believe liars? What is this psychological condition called? How many times does the Husband have to beat the Wife before the Wife gets it?

Hint: Everything that the Government says should be treated as a lie until independently confirmed.

Because they deserve it.

Just ask Pat Tillman or Jessica Lynch.

Pathetic. The Leaders (see how they did that? they are OUR EMPLOYEES) deserve blame but they are only enabled by the suckers that continue to listen to them.

Yes, it's mind-boggling:eek:...this is (imo) a tyrant's biggest asset: that his words and pronouncements are *believed*. Amazing that both the politicians and the always-lying press are treated as though they were models of Christian (or Randian:) morality...;))

Short take: The more they talk, the more the story evaporates. Ambassador Kennedy is striving to make it sound like the now-retracted claim of a mob gathering prior to the attack wasn't so much a lie as a myth, or something. The best you can say is that the State Department's attitude toward protecting its assets was pretty, eh, laid back — a quality I wouldn't generally attribute to Secretary Hillary Clinton.

Lowest point so far: Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tennessee) bogarts the mic and tries to take pressure off President Obama by reading a list of Americans killed abroad during the Reagan administration. At least they're not blaming Bush this time.

Pathetic.

Well, as it turns out State is now saying they never claimed (internally or otherwise) that this "video" was the cause of the disturbances:

The State Department denied Tuesday it ever concluded that the deadly consulate attack Sept. 11 in Libya was an unplanned outburst prompted by an anti-Islam movie, despite public statements early on by some in the Obama administration suggesting that was the case.

The Obama administration used that explanation for more than a week after assailants killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. Most notably, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said in several TV interviews five days after the attack that it appeared to be "spontaneous" violence spinning out of protests of the film.

Uh huh. Me thinks someone is in damage-control mode, and with good reason. Indeed, it harkens back to this guy:

http://www.practicalstate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Onixon.jpg

Let me quote from a former Naval Intelligence officer:

This scandal now surpasses Watergate as the gold standard for Presidential malfeasance. Nixon had the decency to resign. Of course, Obama will seek to throw someone (probably Hillary), under the bus.

This is now a black-and-white issue for all candidates running for Federal office. If the candidate in question does not insist that Obama resign, or offer him support in any way, it should be grounds for not voting for that candidate.

I agree.

It's bad enough that our President has repeatedly apologized for our Bill of Rights, which absolutely protects the right of people to speak freely, including speaking ill of an alleged "prophet", "God" or anything else. Indeed it is exactly this freedom that allows such a thing as "piss Christ" to exist without the creator winding up in Guantanamo (or worse.)

But what's worse is that it has now been discovered that these missions had repeatedly asked for more and better security as they had reason to believe there was a problem brewing with these extremists and they were the potential targets of attack. This request was apparently repeatedly rebuffed, and then of course the beliefs proved to be tragically accurate.

So we have first a screw-up, second we have people that died as a direct consequence of Presidential malfeasance, third we have a direct violation of the Constitution by a sitting President who is apologizing for our Bill of Rights and finally we have a cover-up of the entire thing by that same President, making knowingly false claims about what led to the violence.

It's time to go for this Administration and everyone involved in this -- all the way to the top.

Dream on. Obama has had more scandals and broken more laws than I care to count, and nothing ever happens. CONgress doesn't GAF. It would be racist to hold him accountable.

I also doubt he'll throw the Three Witches of Macbeth under the bus either. Some lowly State bureaucrat will get the blame and those three despicable broads will skate.
