Eric is a liberty candidate (http://libertycandidates.com/2012/06/eric-knowles-liberty-candidate-for-u-s-house-of-representatives-maryland/) running in Maryland's 3rd District and a long time Ron Paul supporter (http://www.dailypaul.com/230220/im-here-or-rather-im-back-to-push-back-against-overgrown-and-unconstitutional-government). In 2007, he quit his job to campaign for Paul in Iowa and South Carolina. He is a Veteran for Ron Paul and was there at the March to the White House. He has made videos stating why people should stand behind Ron Paul, including this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpPGpPL5KMY) which was used for this grassroots Ron Paul ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohKz9OeiI0g).

He is facing an opponent. However, the district was just redistricted, so many of the people don't know Eric's opponent. Eric's opponent's has made "grassroots funding" the theme of his campaign. However, in his mind "grassroots" means funded by the government. Eric's opponent just introduced a bill that if passed says that taxpayers will be forced to match "grassroots contributions" (http://www.baltimoresun.com/explore/howard/news/politics/ph-ho-cf-political-notebook-0927-20120921,0,6056447.story) over $50,000 up to 1000 percent. (that's not a typo) That means if a politican raises $50,000, taxpayers will be forced to give him or her up to a half a million. If $100,000, up to a million and so on.

Of course, Eric believes that contributions should be voluntary and real "grassroots" does not include the government using other people's money to fund campaigns.

Please help out. We are a few thousand away from being able to purchase TV ads in targeted areas and we need to purchase them before the deadline. Every little bit helps. Even just $5 would be helpful.
