When the dollar does finally tank, it will not be because of these 2 characters, it will be the Federal Reserve's policy of intentional dollar devaluation to fund the welfare/warfare state we live in.

But, I am sure these characters will be skapegoated of course.

US Dollar Index (down = Grandma and Grandpa cannot afford Christmas presents imported from China for little Jimmy this year, again)

It is possible to create a completely oil independent transportation system that relies on clean abundant and replenishing fuel sources. In fact, if we begin the transition to solar now the only detriment is that we would drive much slower (if pure solar without battery). Think about why we do not do this now. Really... what is stopping our country from making this transition? What's stopped us from making this transition?

Environmentalists need to wake up to free market solutions. If we can get off the corporatist teat we'll be able to solve this stuff on our own.

A truly free market absent of economic intervention and manipulation and we would most likely already be driving plug-in hybrids at the very minimum. But you are right, solar powered electricity grids charging battery powered cars is the only real solution.
