It is a statement of preference, which is why I am writing in Ron Paul. Because then it is also an obvious rejection of choices, since I will have taken the trouble to vote.

I don't even know what that means. However, there are different types of voting. There is voting on issues as part of the government, such as how an elected official or town hall voter votes. There is voting for candidates. Then there is voting on issue as a recommendation, such as for a nonbinding resolution to arrest Bush. Among other types. There are various moral attacks and defenses for different types of voting.
