Not sure if there is a topic for this yet. I really wonder what Obama's response will be...

his response will be not to acknowledge the incident

anyone with a server on the web has put up with this Chinese shit for a decade plus already, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened

things were simpler when they simply bought the loyalty of the Clintons...

Not sure if the story is legit, but when you outsource the manufacture of hardware and software, you have put yourself at the mercy of those producers.

Spear phishing is a cyber attack that uses disguised emails that seek to convince recipients of a specific organization to provide confidential information. Spear phishing in the past has been linked to China and other states with sophisticated cyber warfare capabilities.

Oh yeah, that's fucking sophisticated. rofl.

So sophisticated, in fact, I believe it puts Nigeria at the top of the food chain regarding "cyber warfare."

hacking sounds like: http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/8/3303258/cybersecurity-executive-order-obama-white-house
After CISPA's failure, White House considers executive order to implement cybersecurity law By Jeff Blagdon (http://www.theverge.com/users/jeffblagdon) on September 8, 2012 04:07 pm

With Congress unable to pass legislation (http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/2/3215563/cispa-cybersecurity-senate-delayed) strengthening cybersecurity in the US, President Obama is taking matters into his own hands. The Hill reports (http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/248079-white-house-circulating-draft-of-executive-order-on-cybersecurity) that the White House has drafted an executive order establishing an opt-in program that lays out best practices for companies operating critical infrastructure, such as railways and the water supply.
Opt-in, with limited incentives for industry

Citing unnamed sources, The Hill reports that the proposed order would establish an inter-agency council to oversee the project, managed by the Department of Homeland Security. But with limited authority to offer incentives to industry, the White House will face challenges getting the relevant companies to submit to what is effectively optional regulation. The President has repeatedly stressed the importance of improving America’s resilience to cyberattacks from abroad, even making his case in a July Wall Street Journal op-ed (http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/20/3171452/obama-cyber-attack-dangers-cybersecurity-act-of-2012).

While network attacks on US infrastructure aren't a new phenomenon, government officials say that they are growing increasingly bold. Debora Plunkett, head of the NSA’s cyber-defense arm, told students at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University that, "we’re starting to see nation-state resources and expertise employed in what we would characterize as reckless and disruptive, destructive behaviors," reports Reuters (http://news.yahoo.com/cyber-attacks-grow-increasingly-reckless-235957771.html).

Get rid of the background checks and drug tests and they may be able to hire Computer Security Personnel that aren't complete idiots.

on second though,, we are safer with the idiots.

Whenever I hear about cyber-attacks (I believe Iran was accused of doing one recently, and the DoD has been claiming cyber-attacks for a while), I'm immediately skeptical as they've been using them to help pass internet legislation after SOPA failed.

Not saying some spying and hacking doesn't go on, but if there was ever an easier threat to fabricate, it's cyber-terrorism.

Yea, lol, what a crock. It's like saying "small arms have been linked to nation-states possessing sophisticated ground warfare capabilities."
