We'd pay people to watch porn?

I thought only Supreme Court justices got that deal.

Why not?

We're all going to jail sooner or later, for something or other.

First they pass a ridiculus law to take money from you, then they use the excuse of needing to enforce the law as another excuse to take more money from everyone else. If we do have a need for any law, then we need a law which prohibits and punishes the lawmakers that try to introduce these types of laws. We (the 99%) are prohibited by law from trying to sue people for frivilous things, but there are no laws which prohibit lawmakers from trying to introduce laws that would require imprisonment for not reading a bible every day.

What kills me is that people still go for this shit and actually vote for these laws.

Unprotected sex in the porn industry.... It looked like unprotected sex in general... that's usually how you procreate lol.

Misleading title is misleading.

Either way, the porn industry has an interest in keeping their porn stars healthy and... well, you know... alive. No legislation required.

Honestly they don't.. the stars are all has been's in less than a decade. No legislation required nonetheless. The whole industry is the biggest oxymoron in our society: Prostitution... illegal. Do it on camera... no problem. Where do we come up with this shit?

It sends government inspectors, at full salary and benefits, to adult film sets to check up on whether actors are using not only condoms, but rubber gloves, goggles, and lab coats.

I can understand the reason for goggles, but gloves and a lab coat??

Yes they do. I know people that work in the sex industry. There are very strict guidelines in place to keep them healthy and clean.

I just tried to improve the thread's title, but I guess it's too late.

I actually don't see the relevance of this law's limitation to the "porn industry". It raises the question of how "porn industry" is defined. If a married couple wants to videotape themselves at home, will it be a crime without a condom? Will next year's next law require everyone to use a condom, unless they can demonstrate specific intent to produce a baby?

Industry-interests aside, porn stars have an interest in keeping porn stars healthy; and moreover, government has no business punishing people for choosing to take health risks.

You can flag your post for a Moderator and ask them to change the title for you. Just click on the http://www.ronpaulforums.com/gfx_RedWhiteBlue/buttons/report.gif.

Okay I flagged it.

If a person's a pornstar, does that make it more okay to punish her for having unprotected sex? I don't get it, which accounts for the title I chose. Pornstars live under the Constitution like the rest of us.

Or moves underground in LA, which would undermine the voluntary hiv-testing system currently ineffect.

Perhaps, but I would rather see this billion dollar industry just move to a more appreciative county of the more than three thousand counties in the U.S.A. and watch L.A. county suffer for their stupidity.

Let the porn industry leave LA. It could move to either NV or NH based on laws in those states. It could also just move to another part of CA but if I was in charge of a LA based porn company, I'd likely move the company to NV for tax reasons alone (or NH if I loved liberty, which I do).

The porn industry leaving LA might be good for the industry. Plus, if it because a powerful lobby in NV, people like Harry Reid and Mitt Romney would be really upset.

The porn industry needs to be where the attractive women are.

Maybe they could just move to Orange County.

"voluntary"? I guess so. It's more like, bring us a HIV test result that is less than a month old or you don't work. You can always choose not to work.

A couple of months ago, the porn industry had their first on set STD transmission in something like 25 years. I believe it was for syphilis. The entire industry shut down on it's own for a bit because of this. This law is probably in reaction to this. The gvmt saying - ONE CASE! ONE CASE! - see, you mundanes are incapable of regulating yourselves! Now we have to step in and "protect" you from yourselves! We know better!

What incentive do producers have to deny work to performers who show up without test results? I'm contemplating smaller producers who aren't banking on their reputations.

It seems like LA County does like people working. It had a ton of medical marijuana clinics and tried to shut them down. It hard a large portion of the entire US porn industry and it is trying to shut it down. No wonder the unemployment rate is so high in LA :(

Well, County rather than State in this case but yes. Pretty much all of government is inherently retarded.

Good point, IDK...

Still, the industry as a whole has a really good track record.
