Who: Myself and all those who are sick of the neoconservatives and are wondering what happened to the real Republican Party... the party of Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, Bob Barr, etc.

What: We aim to "handicap the field" in terms of how closely they matchup with traditional conservatism. Our grading system is yet to be set in stone, but we will grade out against fiscal responsibility, reducing the size of government, social tolerance, strict adherence to the Constitution, Border Security & Immigration, staunch defense of civil liberties, not ceding US Sovereignty to World Government, ending the US policing of the world, and support of free markets. We aim to grade the Presidential, US House, US Senate, State Governor, State House, and State Senate candidates for starters.

When: We will launch early 2008, but you can feel free to email me at gts@ncaabbs.com with your email address, and I will contact you when we do launch. Also, feel free to email me tips on people who you feel represent traditional conservatism, so we can make sure we research them!

Why: Ron Paul's candidacy is much more than just himself. It is the return of the Goldwater wing of the Republican Party with a vengeance. We refuse to let this movement die out after Paul's candidacy, and see this website and its efforts as a way to unite the movement for many years to come.

And now about something like LibertyRestoration.com to resonate with all parties and stripes?

The two party system has it rigged in this country. It's impossible for a third party to win, as all the rules are rigged against them. I think cutting to the chase and having a Goldwater-esk Republican Insurgency is far more effective.

In the short term, a Republican insurgency would help us a lot. As a matter of fact, we NEED one in order to get Ron Paul elected. However, I also agree with the poster that said we need one that counts all liberty loving candidates, regardless of party. So how about making both? Or, on the Republican insurgency one, if there is a position without a "one party" liberty loving candidate, you could throw support behind a third party.

Oh that's the goal. We'll rate out third parties (particularly Constitutional and Libertarian Parties). We won't officially endorse somebody, as we prefer to let people make up their own minds after looking at how people grade out. The real ultimate goal here is to bring the Constitutional and Libertarian guys back into the fold on the Republican side and oust the neocons.

If there is any way my site can help you, tell me.

Right now, I am concentrating on getting Ron Paul Republicans inside the tent and telling their friends - and their friends - etc.

But I see a huge need to elect and support other Ron Paul Republicans who choose to run for office and/or make the changes necessary at all levels. And where we focus is a question of where the GOP chooses to stand. Will they run against Dems? Or will they have to run against the imploding wing of the GOP?

Plan B.2 - Draft the Good Doctor

Would you like to guarantee Dr. Ron Paul appears on the 2008 Presidential ballot?

But why do we need a guarantee? The establishment wouldn’t try to cheat the Good Doctor, Heavens no. He will win the Republican nomination fair and square.

When the establishment refused to allow Dr. Paul to participate in the Iowa forum,
locked his supporters out of the Texas straw poll,
changed the rules for primary voting in New Hampshire,
Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland, West Virginia,
and tried to exclude him from the Michigan Debates …
those were just flukes, errors, aberrations … right?
And FOX is “Fair and Balanced.”

There is a way to insure Our Chance to Restore the Republic.

Open the backdoor. Become a delegate to the Libertarian Party Convention.
Go online and Join the Libertarian Party [www.lp.org] before December 31st, 2007. A basic Sustaining Membership http://www.lp.org/organization/bylaws.shtml (Article 5) costs only $25 dollars.
The LP Convention will be held May 22-28 at the Adams Mark Hotel - Denver, Colorado.

Am I suggesting that you change your Republican Party affiliation?
Absolutely not!
I am saying we should play the political game and hedge our bets for Dr. Paul.
The Libertarian Party already has ballot status in 27 states in the nation. Who would doubt that we Ron Paul supporters would not organize the necessary petition drives to secure the remaining 23 states in short order?

If you are an Independent join at http://www.lp.org/members/newmember.shtml
If you are a Republican join at http://www.lp.org/members/newmember.shtml
If you are a Democrat join at http://www.lp.org/members/newmember.shtml
If you are a Libertarian (75%+ of you already support Dr. Paul) then for crying out loud renew your membership at http://www.lp.org/members/newmember.shtml

If you are an Independent, Republican, or Democrat and you are hesitant to join the Libertarian Party then
support Dr. Paul today by hedging the bet for 2008 and don’t renew in 2009.
This is about doing the
Big Thing the Right Thing - Right NOW!

We the People have shown we will come out in force for the Good Doctor
and the Secret Plan is very simple. (It’s cleverly hidden below.)

The “Secret Plan:”

1) Swarm the LP convention,
2) Make one by-law change like so,
ARTICLE 12: PRESIDENTIAL AND VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS
2. No candidate may be nominated for President or Vice-President who is ineligible under the United States Constitution, {{edit this -- who has not expressed a willingness to accept the nomination of the Party, }}or who is not a member of the Party.

3) Nominate or “Draft” Dr. Paul,

4) “Officially” announce Ron Paul’s nomination AFTER the Republican National Convention.

Rationale:

American politics has become an empty theater devoted only to concentrating power for an anointed few. The evidence of that are the constant attacks on Dr. Paul’s campaign. The fact that Dr. Paul dominates straw polls nationwide yet is maligned by the establishment and in the media is almost a footnote.

If we the people retain the mechanism to nominate Dr. Paul then the establishment loses its control over the process. They cannot simply dismiss Dr. Paul without running the risk of having their candidate hijacked.

Imagine … the people controlling the process. That’s pretty democratic.
Imagine … restoring the republic. That’s pretty republican.
Imagine … following the Constitution. That’s pretty libertarian.

Everybody wins!

Either way it's good for the Constitution, good for America, good for Dr. Paul, and good for us because we the people would finally have a man we can all vote for and know we are doing the right thing. We simply have to beat the establishment at its own game.

Besides, Dr. Paul might actually appear twice on ballots.

Worse things could happen.

Hey Tim! LP Party Chair for SC right? I voted for you for State Superintendent of Education. :)

Would love to talk to you about what I'm trying to accomplish with the site, as our goals are one in the same pretty much.

Joining and staying to change the Republican Party is the only right idea. Please don't take the hemlock of joining a third party. I did, and accomplished nothing electorally for years. Now I'm in the GOP and proud of it. We need to stay with the GOP and fight to change it. If Goldwater's people hadn't tried to do this in the party in the '60s the Rockefeller wing of the party might have won out and we might be living in a much more socialist country right now. The same thing--fighting to make the party more pro-liberty--is happening again now.
