I was just thinking about the issue of terrorism. The people who seem to be more willing to give up freedoms and money to fight terrorism and vote republican (although there are several reasons for that) and don't mind giving the President all he needs to fight the war on terror, whether constitutional or not, seem to be people not in metropolitan areas. These people have such little risk of a terrorist attack while people in highly populated areas seem to have more sense on that issue and dislike bush, for good reasons and dumb ones, while they are most at risk. This is quite interesting, no?

The big cities will most likely be hit by terrorism. Many of these terrorists are creatures of habit. They hit the World Trade center twice and they continue to target airplanes.

However, the rural areas tend to have a leave us alone attitude especially in the West. Many rural voters voted for Bush for a variety of reasons, not just terror related.
I disagree with your premise that rural voters number one issue is terrorism.

Guns are very important to these voters. If you gave them a choice of give up your guns and be absolutely safe from terrorism or keep your guns and protect yourselves, most rural voters would vote to keep their guns and take their chances with terrorists.

Forestry and ranching policies are a major influence out west.
