Post Poll: Obama up 8 points over Romney in Virginia

The Washington Post

With just seven weeks of campaigning left before the November election, President Obama holds a clear lead over Mitt Romney in Virginia, buoyed by growing optimism about the state of the country and fueled by a big gender gap working in his favor, according to a new Washington Post poll.

Obama leads his Republican rival by 52 percent to 44 percent among likely voters. Among all registered voters, the president leads by 50 percent to 43 percent, a margin identical to that recorded in a survey in early May. That indicates that Romney has made up little ground during four months of intense advertising and campaign visits.

Virginia is becoming a blue state. From what I've heard, a lot of DC employees are moving there.

I made this map last Friday. Left Iowa and Florida blank, but in this scenario it doesn't really matter:

Even if I take away the "traditional" swing states, Obama only needs 2 electoral votes to win (I think it is very likely he'll win Ohio, even though it is a traditional swing state).

Say he doesn't win Ohio, he'd recoup 13 electoral votes from Virginia, and Wisconsin would put him over the top.

Romney stands a decent chance of winning Nevada and possibly Colorado.

Virginia has basically become blue. The northern part of the state is being infested by D.C. types, who vote 85%+ for democratic candidates (see how D.C. votes in presidential elections.)

Same thing is happening to Montana and New Hampshire, with leftists flooding in from California and Massachusetts.

A new Rasmussen poll gives Romney the lead in Colorado.

All the Nevada polls I've seen give Obama the W, but there hasn't been a new one in a month.

For me... I don't care who wins. So I say F*ck the GOP. I want to see then cry. And I want them to know its because of how I have been treated.

A plausible Romney win:

It should be very clear to the GOP that the margins in states needed to win could have been filled easily by us.

The problem with Barry has always been tapping into historically unreliable voting blocks. He won in '08 because of massive youth and minority support. I think a lot of the enthusiasim associated with his campaign four years ago has been lost.

ANYTHING can happen between now and Nov. But, the Cavuto Show made clear that Obama will destroy him once the debates get under way. Everytime you see a GOP'er do this...

The black vote is monolithic.

I saw some polls posted around here that were 98 to 0.

GOTV will be crucial there.

Until Romney's gaffe. Hell, I've not seen such enthusiasm for Obama since.. well, since he was elected.

Always been in the Socialist bag.

They currently have a Republican governor and legislature.

Don't be so quick to blame Virginia. Remember, the GOP nominated a very weak candidate.

Well, they're never going to know any of that because they're not going to stand in the voting booth with you.
