One of the Republican appointees to the Electoral College has resigned abruptly from her post after publicly questioning whether she would support the GOP's presidential ticket when casting official votes after the November election.

Melinda Wadsley of Ames, Iowa, tells The Associated Press that she could not in good conscience vote for party nominee Mitt Romney.
Wadsley was among three electors who had told the AP for a story published Thursday that they were exploring alternatives should Romney win their states. Wadsley had backed candidate Ron Paul.

Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker says the process will begin for selecting a new presidential elector from the Fourth District, which would allow the GOP to confirm a die-hard Romney supporter.

Wow, that was sudden. I wonder what happened?

You know, as I read that AP article earlier I was thinking to myself, 'why is this lady in the press and giving out her name basically putting a target on her back?'

are you sure? The one I saw was about them saying they might not vote for Romney. This is about her saying the same day she was resigning her post. For whatever undisclosed reason.

If she was threatened by team Romney I hope she tells all. Never, ever give away your hand before you make your move. There is nothing to gain in it.

what the hell is this!? why did they even talk in the first place? and why is she resigning!?

and it better not have anything to do with AJ Spiker wanting to play house with the party because that is what I suspect is the case.

and she doesn't even know the 3 of them together could potentially have the power to stop either party from winning!

Take a look at 2000

2000 Presidential Election

Electoral Vote Totals
George W. Bush and Richard Cheney received 271 Electoral Votes
Albert Gore, Jr. and Joseph Lieberman received 266 Electoral Votes

I have been trying to get people to understand all we have to do is exercise our constitutional rights in a write-in campaign

Party's are private organizations and can do what they want no different than the boy scouts or united way !

please watch read and learn and let's show the 2 Party's we aren't buying it any longer!

We are more than large enough to swing the election !!! and that is where Our Power truly lies

national electors are free to vote their conscience, it doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be informed... but we just have to make sure that ron's name is on the ballot and/or list of candidates specifically for the electors.

I don't know anything about AJ Spiker, but if he is indeed trying to score points with the GOP and he knew this lady was a Ron Paul supporter, he may have outed her to the RNC, who then put pressure on her to announce her loyalties and resign.

We are more than large enough to swing the election !!!

Swing it to where though? Ron Paul was the only good candidate and he has no chance.

Yeah, I sure hope that isn't the case. :(

Look it through her eyes. She obviously wants to stay clean. Her conscience doesnt allow her to vote for Mitt and if people in Iowa vote for Mitt she doesnt want to "betray" them and vote against their will. She is not a coward so she told everyone in advance what is on her mind and her moral dilemma. Open and fair.

I would like to know more about this.

Although it was not helpful to mention her reservations, I doubt she could have kept it a secret. Romney's team of brownshirt-lawyers is being very thorough in making sure he doesn't have any obstacles in his path on the way to November.

If they could show up at our houses and make all of us vote for him, they would.

Because she has integrity and courage.

Because she has integrity and courage.

if she thought romney was so corrupt she couldn't vote for him, how could she feel like it would be prudent to have someone else vote for him?
wouldn't that also mean she thinks romney would be bad for our country? if electors can't stop a villian from taking office, we are in trouble.
they are our last line of defense against corrupt leaders.

It should be interesting to see the comments on here if Rand gets the nomination in 2016/2020 and there are some faithless electors who decide they cannot vote for him in good conscience and choose to cast their ballot for someone else.

I agree, but there is little more that can be done against the media's chosen ones. I'm glad she's doing this now, out in the open, and not waiting for some super secret imaginary 'gotcha moment' that will never come.

it would be their right to vote for evil.

It's for the best. She can publicly show that she doesn't support Romney but not piss off the party people we need next time.

Voting is Prohibited when voters are selected based on who they are going to vote for, only the Party matters to itself. Now vote for who you were told to vote for mundane. And quit trying to look behind the curtain.

Another nail in Rmoney's coffin. It's obvious that Mitt and his Inner Cricle Fat Ole GOPers need to be exposed. This is good because Libtard Yahoo (in coordination with ABC's political media) exposed Romney's handlers as Rigged crony politicans.

As the days and weeks expire towards Nov 6... I hope more and more come publicially out against Mr #NDAA, Mr WarOnDrugs, Mr MilitaryIndustrialComplex, Mr NSA_UTAH, Mr WorldWarIII, etc...

Bury these fraudsters that are running the party from behind the curtain. Make them so toxic, even the most ignorant right, won't want them around the GOP/RNC again.

Info on state laws:

I'm not aware that anyone has ever been persecuted under such laws, nor that such binding is even valid and trumps federal law and the constitution, but have seen a lot of examples to the contrary.

Looking for one example otherwise.
