I think Schiff should ask this question to all his 100+ employees...also ask it to potential employees during an interview....and fire/not hire whoever wants to ban all his profits/whoever wants him to work for nothing.

They probably get *far* too many press credentials applications for them to vett on a case-by-case "litmus test" basis.

But after a trolling of such epic proportions as this, they might very well "red flag" him for future conventions!

By capping profits, I'd imagine that some of them meant limiting CEO pay (which is dumb).

Who the hell would invest in a company if there will be crummy returns? Don't those people know that businesses need capital to grow? Do they all think that government and small businesses is all that an economy needs? Yeah, maybe in a 3rd world country.

Forgive them, for they know not what they say.

Occam's Banana

you don't go to a football game and ask the cheerleaders to explain a prevent defense.

But if you did, I bet you'd find more cheerleaders who *could* explain prevent defense than you could find DNC delegates who could explain basic principles of sound economics.

And I'm willing to bet that most cheerleaders who don't understand prevent defense won't try to pretend that they do - and insist that the coaching staff take them seriously, to boot.

Banning corporate profits = 100% corporate income tax

I like the simplicity of this equation. But the real problem is that they think the problem simply ends there. It isn't actually a conclusion. Why the hell would the owners of a corporation operate if there is zero incentive (profitability) to run it? Is that greedy? By that same logic anyone that performs anything for anyone for something is greedy. This logic is flawed since it somehow arbitrarily "kicks in" once people make higher than average wages (this is called envy boys and girls). I love how people only look through the eyes of the mainstream consumer. I love how I could almost guarantee that 99% of these individuals would probably shut up if it was them on the 100th floor of some snazy building wearing thousand dollar suits. I love how these same idiots simply clamor and rave for more and bigger government yet it's the god damned government that props up the fucking corporations they hate so god damned much! It's brilliant!

as a former liberal...

why should a company's CEO or board get million of dollars a year, while its hard working employees get 30-50k a year?

But now...

if a company treat's it's employees as trash, then dont buy from the company and maybe it'll go out of business.
Can't force a company to treat it's employees well. The CEO of Lenovo in China got like a 14million USD bonus for increased profits gained for the company. I believe he gave all his employees a 300 USD bonus for the month. 300 USD is a lot of money in some parts of china.

Wish there were "Ron Paul democrats"

As a former liberal too (and not trying to be an apologist), you have give them a little break in understanding why they'd wish for no corporate profits. Most liberals see the market as totally rigged in big corporation's favor (which I totally agree it is), so that is allowing big corps to make "obscene" profits and so in their eyes, one way to counteract this unfair advantage given to big corps would be the idea to "ban" corporate profits.

Peter Schiff Baits DNC to "Ban Corporate Profits" (http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/12758-peter-schiff-baits-dnc-to-%E2%80%9Cban-corporate-profits%E2%80%9D)

Thomas R. Eddlem | The New American (http://thenewamerican.com/)
08 September 2012

Free-market financial analyst, author (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1250004470/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1250004470&linkCode=as2&tag=libert0f-20) and radio talk-show host (http://schiffradio.com) Peter Schiff made some waves online with his baiting of delegates at this week's Democratic National Convention. Schiff, microphone in hand, trotted down to the DNC confab in Charlotte, North Carolina, and asked delegates to agree to a platform change to ban all corporate profits. About half of those filmed on his YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07fTsF5BiSM), which already has more than half a million views in just a few days, did agree. (See video below.)

“Let's see how far to the left the Democrats are willing to go,” Schiff's video suggested, as the free-market champion engaged in the following kind of dialogue with delegates:

Schiff: “Those corporations want their profits, but we need the money, the people. We deserve that money. I mean, we do the hard work. We do all the shopping, right?”

Delegate: “That is true, yes.”

Schiff: “Without the consumer, there is no profits.”

Delegate: “That is also true. Yes.”

Schiff: “We demand our share of the pie.”

Delegate: “Also true.”

Schiff: “Well, you're a good Democrat.”

Schiff, a well-known adherent to the free market Austrian School of economics (http://www.mises.org/), clearly demonstrated a thorough fluency in “leftist-speak.” Schiff told one delegate: “Corporations have profits, and I want to ban those profits so that the workers can have higher wages and that the consumers can have lower prices.”

All but one of the Democrats interviewed by Schiff on the five-minute YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07fTsF5BiSM&feature=player_embedded) agreed that the federal government should at least put a cap on corporate profits. Nine of the nineteen interviewed called for a total ban on corporate profits, which would completely destroy all small businesses. The latter figure includes one young woman, who may have been too young to be a delegate, who called for a federal law to make all corporations to “lose” money.

Schiff attained national fame for predicting the housing and financial crisis of 2007-08 with astonishing precision on national financial television interviews, years before the events unfolded. One of his fans compiled some of his 2005-07 interviews in a YouTube video, entitled “Peter Schiff Was Right (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I0QN-FYkpw),” that received millions of views.

The Peter Schiff radio show is syndicated nationally by the Radio America network, and Schiff replaced radio legend G. Gordon Liddy's (http://www.talkers.com/tag/g-gordon-liddy/) time slot (10 a.m.-1 p.m. Eastern time) after the latter retired July 27. Schiff's show is broadcast online and through 50 terrestrial radio affiliates (http://schiffradio.com/f/affiliates) across the nation.
