Those who hve not followed the Libertarian Party may not have gone through this before but one of the biggest challenges each election is simply getting the LP candidate on the ballot.
The LP has been working and fighting this fight as they do every election, wasting many resources that the monopoly parties do not need to waste.
This late in the game, changing the candidates would be used as an excuse by the Republican Party to get the LP off of their ticket in their states. This could possibly result in several states where the LP is not on the ballot.
Mitt Romney would love this, knowing that the usual few percent that he loses to the LP would be all his (in his mind).
It could result in swinging the election in Romney's favor and leaving us with 8 years of hell.
