Yes, someone who's already been selected as an elector could theoretically become a "faithless elector". But that counts on that person getting elected as a Obama or Romney elector. Running the tables and winning Maine by a plurality would only be possible if Ron Paul were leading the effort. And then I still don't think it's possible. If it was, Ron would have run the Maine caucus. I'm not talking about winning the Main delegates by just hanging around. I'm talking about what we dismissively called the "beauty contest". Yes, Ron Paul came in a close second. But he didn't win. So for your plan to work, people who didn't think enough to register republican and vote for Ron back in March must somehow be convinced that now they need to "write Ron Paul" in, when he's not even running and his son has endorsed Mitt Romney. Hey, you want to do this "just because" fine.
