Welcome to Detroit, Mr. Biden!

Wiki: Detroit Politics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit#Politics)

Politically, the city consistently supports the Democratic Party in state and national elections (local elections are nonpartisan). According to a study released by the Bay Area Center for Voting Research, Detroit is the most liberal large city in America, measuring only the percentage of city residents who voted for the Democratic Party.

Washington (CNN) – A U-Haul truck loaded with equipment for a Monday event featuring Vice President Joe Biden was stolen in Detroit Sunday, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service said.

"A U-Haul that we were utilizing was stolen at the Westin Hotel overnight," Ed Donovan told CNN.

Donovan would not specify what equipment was in the U-Haul at the time it was stolen, and added that the theft shouldn't affect the vice president's plans on Monday.

Biden is scheduled to speak at a Labor Day rally in downtown Detroit Monday and march in a parade organized by the Michigan AFL-CIO. Last year President Barack Obama spoke at the Motor City's Labor Day celebration.

Democratic Detroit... so poor, the thousands of abandoned buildings, have been stripped of anything of value, wiring, pipes, windows metal.

Unions played a part too, don't you think?

A part in what?

Without free money Detroit would do one of two things;

1)Get to work and produce anything.

2)Dry up and blow away.

Either one is fine with me, unions "helping" produce something is fine too but federal subsidies need to end.

Heck if Michigan can agree to subsidize Detroits lifestyle then by all means let them, expecting folks in Kansas and Colorado to foot the bill is utterly ridiculous.

Maybe I'm just a simpleton but from here it looks as though when the federal government got into the auto industry in the late '70's Detroit started snowballing. For 40 years federal dollars have kept the city alive...........For what?.....

I hear the street are paved in gold and the houses cost a $ dollar, and now the citizens help you move too? Detroit sounds like a magical place.

They got into it long before that.. and Unions played a part..
Foreign policy also played a part,, there would not have been an embargo if we weren't meddling in the ME.

NAFTA was the final nail,, with folks like Romney, buying up, closing, and striping out the manufacturing base, and shipping everything out of the country.

It wasn't just one thing, it was bad policies on several fronts.

I literally have tears in my eyes at this very moment. That's a work of genius, right there.
