why don't we do what Republicans and Democrats do every time they elect a Presidential Candidate - debate.

It could be a grassroot debate. Could be in the actual building and aired on C-Span, or could be on Skype from respective parties' living rooms.

Libertarians have great points. We don't have to convince them of Ron Paul ideas, they were on board with us all along. And we don't have to worry about money issue, as the sheer volume of disenchanted Paulites will give us more coverage then any money could. The bad point is that they're not as organized and, why lie, irrelevant.

Republicans have some points to score on their own. They're definitely relevant. In the last 30 years, we had 3 Republican presidents and only 2 Democratic ones. Everyone knows who they are. But..... well, the Convention showed us the "but" part in all its glory didn't it.

I am torn. I'm sure I am not the only one. So let the grassroots organize some kind of a debate and offer their respective convincing points.

When there is a decent LP candidate on the ballot vote for them if they are better than the GOP choice. Stay registered GOP so you can vote in your local races and the primary. Easy enough, that's what I do.

When Romney gets the invitation to come debate against Johnson, it will get even less attention. The crickets may answer the call; Rmoney won't.

Ron is in the Republican party due to strategy.

Third party is not viable yet.

Third party is not viable yet.

And they will never be for a myriad of reasons. One of the major reasons is that they do not represent a new idea, but are only a breakaway of a faction of a party that for whatever reason decides to congregate on their own.

There are libertarian and paleo-con factions within the GOP, yet the LP and CP exist because some within that faction thought they could do it better on their own. There are eco-socialists within the Democratic party, yet the Green party exists because some within that faction thought they could do it better on their own. As we know all of these parties have failed to make any inroads. In the long run what they wind up doing is weakening their faction because it is divided between the third party and those who choose to remain and work in the two major parties. It would not surprise me if in the future, as we see neo-conservatism start to lose power there will be a breakaway of neo-cons who start a third party and think they can do it better on their own.

One can only imagine what the GOP would look like today if those who left to join the LP, CP and the various other offshoots would have remained engaged in the GOP, ran for office and used the party to advance their ideas, instead of pushing themselves to a place of political obscurity and ineffectiveness.
