Now it's hard to tell who wrote this speech. Did she get help from Bill Kristol (PNAC)? Hillary Clinton? Madeleine Albright? Nancy Pelosi?

Many GOP people loved the speech. The people at MSNBC loved it. The actual content, minus a jab at Obama about leading from behind, and references to Romney/Ryan, could just as well be a speech given by Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama tomorrow.

So ask yourself, and ask others, what did she actually say? What do you specifically remember?

From a person who loved the speech:

- She really got Obama about leading from behind.
- She has a wonderful story of coming from being a poor black girl to Secretary of State, and maybe President.
- She said America is the shining beacon of freedom for the world.
- Wonderful Arab Spring.
- She wants America to be strong.

Fair enough, but wouldn't Hillary or Obama say the same things, with the exception of the first item?

And the main point of the speech was policing the world, albeit with many humanitarian, "it's for the children" justifications thrown in. Add to that references to Iran, Syria, Russia and China, and it sounds like she wants to rule the world. Oh well, that's very popular with the establishment in both Parties, and depending upon how compassionately you say you want to rule them, it would fly just as well at a GOP or Democratic Convention.

And then there is the cost aspect. She alludes to this by saying there is a "weariness" of carrying these "burdens". Her answer to that is that we must forcefully lead the world or there will be chaos (Oh no! Chaos!). The costs (in US taxpayer money, destruction, soldiers and civilians) be damned. Well, the Democrats say the costs don't matter either. We are paving the road to hell with good intentions, and we can't put a price tag on that.

She did say that in order for the US to become a nation that others want to view as an example, we need to get our financial house in order. That, I agree with.

(How she thinks we can do that while still doing all the other bs she talked about, I don't know.)

Cognitive disconnect. She has no ideas for cuts to the budget. Spend, spend, spend is what it all adds up to.

(Oh yeah, Constitution be damned too. She didn't mention it a single time.)

This is only the beginning. A Rice/Rubio ticket is the neo-conservative wet-dream.

TAMPA — The next time Republicans are searching for a presidential candidate, rest assured: Condoleezza Rice will be a part of that conversation.

Rice’s speech Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention was easily the best-reviewed of the week so far and, at times, even seemed to out-hype vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s keynote remarks.
...
Towards the end of her speech, Rice even alluded to the idea that she could be president.

“And on a personal note: A little girl grows up in Jim Crow Birmingham – the most segregated big city in America,” she said. “Her parents can’t take her to a movie theater or a restaurant, but they make her believe that even though she can’t have a hamburger at the Woolworth’s lunch counter, she can be President of the United States. And she becomes the Secretary of State.”

This wasn’t thrown into Rice’s speech on a whim; these speeches are meticulously combed for their content. And while it could be dismissed as Republicans again seeking to play up the electoral achievements of black and Hispanic members of the party, this seemed to take it a step further.

In other words, it’s clear that Rice — and Republican officials — are happy to have her name bandied about in the context of future presidential elections.

The question from here is whether she actually wants to be president — or serve in some other elected position (senator from California, perhaps?).

Rice has made a significant effort to stay in the political game in recent months, and there is clearly a place for her there. A recent Fox News poll in advance of Ryan’s selection as vice president showed that Rice was the No. 1 choice for the job, with 30 percent of Republicans picking her, well ahead of Ryan and even Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Much of that could be attributed to the fact that she had higher name ID than the likes of Ryan and Rubio, but it shouldn’t be discounted as a reflection of enthusiasm for her role in the party.

Lol, quite ironic that Fox News (The Five) just did a segment praising Rice, and then Rubio.

Of course! The only reason she got so far is she has always been a most excellent dissembler, just like the others.

If the media were to decide today, that's the way it will go down. It doesn't matter which network you turn on, they are talking those two up right now. It's a long way out though, and things will probably change.
