I doubt I would recognize it. Been a long time since the '70s.

Watching the sheets of rain remind's me of when I lived as a kid in Miami. All the blocks were slightly raised. When the rains came in sheets that drain off would be too slow and the road and a 1/4 if the front yard would flood. A coupla feet.
We would take 2x4, 2x6 and 2x8 boards. Cut them about 2' long with a 45 degree cut on one end. It made a 'skiff.'
We could skim them down the block.
So then as we got more into it we started having skimmer derbies. We'd crash them together. Trial and error led to the understanding led to the realization that the more mass the greater damage to your opponent.
We started using 2x12's w/ multiple conning towers to increase mass.
Then we started adding outward facing nails to them.
Then there was a near miss. An admiral injury. Folks called in. Finis.
Ahh the Miami of my youth.

Been watching all day,, Barely a squall,, at its worse.
The crowd has been more interesting,, but there has been nothing that could even be called a storm.

Or more accurately,, wasn't "all that".

Certainly not what I would describe as a "storm". More like a rainy day.
